NYFIX Chooses Egenera for Infrastructure Virtualization
Egenera Helps NYFIX Keep Ahead of the Competition and Get New Services to Market Sooner
Jul. 30, 2008 12:00 PM
Egenera announced that electronic trading systems pioneer NYFIX
has standardized on infrastructure virtualization solutions from Egenera.
"Given the mission critical nature of our applications,
we needed a platform with high availability and sophisticated management
capabilities to optimize our operations," said Don Henderson, CTO at
NYFIX. "With Egenera systems, we're able to rapidly provision servers and
bring applications to market much faster, and with far less
infrastructure. This helps us keep ahead of the competition and get new
services to market sooner."
Egenera systems are highly available, flexible platforms
that eliminate the need to rigidly dedicate servers to applications. Instead,
Egenera's patented Processing Area Network (PAN) replaces server infrastructure
with software, and automatically repurposes and reallocates virtual and
physical servers on demand, with high availability and disaster recovery.
Available on multiple hardware platforms including Egenera's
own integrated BladeFrame system, Egenera PAN Manager software delivers the
next phase of virtualization by transforming physical and virtual IT infrastructure
into flexible, scalable assets that can be allocated as needed. The result for
customers is an improvement in the flexibility, agility and economics of IT
infrastructure through a reduction in data center complexity.
NYFIX currently utilizes Egenera BladeFrame EX systems, which
include 168 Processing Blade (pBlade) modules based on both Intel and AMD
processors.
"We see value in a tightly integrated, single
management domain for both our physical and virtual environments. Egenera
vBlade software enables us to reconfigure on the fly and provision a large
number of servers rapidly," continued Henderson. "We see Egenera as a
strategic part of our business and look forward to developing our relationship
further."
