Adobe Previews Cloud-based BrowserLab

A hosted cloud service that will let web designers compare their sites on various browsers

Adobe has broken out a free preview of BrowserLab, a hosted cloud service that will let web designers compare their sites on various browsers and operation systems to pinpoint anything squirlly.

The widgetry, code named Meer Meer, includes diagnostic tools.

Adobe intends BrowserLab to support all browsers on all operating systems but is starting with IE 6.x and 7.x, Firefox 2.x and 3.x and Safari 3.x on XP, Vista and Mac OS X 10.4 and above.

Adobe says the facility is enabled by virtualization hosted through a cloud-based application that eliminates the need to install browsers on a system before testing a site. It depends on an interface that works on any Flash Player 10-enabled OS.

Designers can view two screenshots from different browsers side-by-side or overlay them on top of one another.

The preview is English-only. Adobe says international versions will appear over time.
