Bungee Labs has announced "write once, run anywhere" support for all major web browsers, including the new Google Chrome, adding to its list of Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) innovations. End-user applications built on the Bungee Connect platform are immediately accessible through Chrome, as well as Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari, providing support for more than 98% of all browsers currently in use on the Internet.
Companies use Bungee Connect to build AJAX web applications with desktop-like interactivity. They can then deploy those applications immediately, either to the Bungee Grid multi-tenant grid infrastructure, or to one or more Bungee Application Servers running in the companies' own infrastructures.
"Google Chrome's new V8 JavaScript engine is designed to run these types of AJAX applications as if they were desktop programs," Mitchell said. "It's almost as though Google Chrome was designed specifically for Bungee-powered apps."
Four Reference Applications (with Free Source Code) Available for Testing
Immediately following the beta release of Google Chrome last week, Bungee Labs began testing applications for compatibility, performance and stability. A demonstrative subset of sample applications shows the interactivity of Bungee Connect PaaS with Google Chrome (known issues- http://bungeeconnect.wordpress.com/2008/09/05/google-chrome-support).
