Keynote® Systems (Nasdaq:KEYN), the global leader in on-demand mobile and Internet test & measurement solutions for continuously improving the online experience, today introduced a new version of Keynote Streaming Perspective® with support for Microsoft Silverlight 2, the technology powering online streaming video coverage of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games on NBCOlympics.com on MSN. The upgraded version of Streaming Perspective, the companys industry leading streaming test and measurement solution, enables developers to test and monitor streaming video that utilizes Silverlight 2 and helps deliver and ensure an exceptional end-user experience.

Microsoft engaged with Keynote prior to the Olympics to utilize the companys LoadPro® load testing solution. Keynote then worked with Microsoft to incorporate Silverlight 2 into the Streaming Perspective platform and enable Microsoft to continually monitor the performance of 2,200 hours of online streaming video coverage of the Olympics.

Keynotes monitoring and benchmarking solutions provide companies the assurance that key metrics are captured and the end user experience is optimal, said Vik Chaudhary, vice president of product management at Keynote. Incorporating Microsoft Silverlight 2 support into the Keynote Streaming Perspective platform not only provides a necessary tool for monitoring the Olympics streaming video, but will continue to empower companies with the necessary tools to ensure an exceptional end-user experience.

Keynotes technology for measuring the performance and quality of streaming video is a critical capability particularly as broadband video consumption grows exponentially, said Rajeev Kutty, product manager for Streaming Perspective. We have received very positive feedback on our solution from both Microsoft and CCTV, two companies dedicated to assuring the highest performance levels possible during the Olympics.

Keynote Streaming Perspective is the market-leading service for measuring the quality and reliability of video streams from multiple geographic locations around the world. Using Keynotes globally distributed network of measurement computers, Streaming Perspective measures the quality and performance of audio and video streams from the end-user perspective.

In order to deliver the most accurate and actionable performance data, Streaming Perspective connects to the selected Internet stream multiple times per hour and records key performance data. All the collected data is then made easily available to customers via the Streaming Perspective portal, making it simple to chart performance and diagnose critical problems as soon as they occur. High-level summary information is available at a glance, while detailed diagnostics data is only a click away.

The Streaming Perspective test and measurement platform contains the most robust support for streaming video players and delivery technologies including: Windows Media, Flash, Real, QuickTime, and now, Silverlight.

Docker and Kubernetes are key elements of modern cloud native deployment automations. After building your microservices, common practice is to create docker images and create YAML files to automate the deployment with Docker and Kubernetes. Writing these YAMLs, Dockerfile descriptors are really painful and error prone.Ballerina is a new cloud-native programing language which understands the architecture around it - the compiler is environment aware of microservices directly deployable into infrastructures like Docker and Kubernetes.
In his session at 20th Cloud Expo, Mike Johnston, an infrastructure engineer at Supergiant.io, will discuss how to use Kubernetes to setup a SaaS infrastructure for your business. Mike Johnston is an infrastructure engineer at Supergiant.io with over 12 years of experience designing, deploying, and maintaining server and workstation infrastructure at all scales. He has experience with brick and mortar data centers as well as cloud providers like Digital Ocean, Amazon Web Services, and Rackspace. His expertise is in automating deployment, management, and problem resolution in these environments, allowing his teams to run large transactional applications with high availability and the speed the consumer demands.
When Enterprises started adopting Hadoop-based Big Data environments over the last ten years, they were mainly on-premise deployments. Organizations would spin up and manage large Hadoop clusters, where they would funnel exabytes or petabytes of unstructured data. However, over the last few years the economics of maintaining this enormous infrastructure compared with the elastic scalability of viable cloud options has changed this equation. The growth of cloud storage, cloud-managed big data environments, and cloud data warehouses like Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery and Azure SQL DW, have given the cloud its own gravity - pulling data from existing environments. In this presentation we will discuss this transition, describe the challenges and solutions for creating the data flows necessary to move to cloud analytics, and provide real-world use-cases and benefits obtained through adop...
