WaveMaker, a provider of open source tools for rapid Web
application development, today announced that Mavirroco Consulting has
successfully built and deployed an open source Web directory and content
management system for the Medical College of Tarijas using WaveMaker Visual
Ajax Studio. The new internal Web application, called “ColMed,” allows doctors
to securely share contact information, schedules, events and even collect
payments.
Designed by Mavirroco Consulting President and Informatics Engineer Manuel Rodriguez Coria, the standards-based application was built with an estimated eighty percent less code and delivered in a record two weeks-a third of the time required when compared with traditional .net tools. WaveMaker’s intuitive interface and built-in tutorial allowed Mavirroco to quickly navigate the visual development environment to create the WaveMaker-generated application. In addition to the benefits of ease and speed of development, the application was also easily integrated with the Medical College’s existing role-based security system because WaveMaker deploys the application as a Java WAR file onto an existing Apache Tomcat server. With 80 percent less code than comparable applications, ColMed will also be much easier to maintain.
