SUSE Linux Enterprise 10 Server stands head and shoulders
above the competition when it comes to server agility, management, hardware
enablement and interoperability at a low cost. The recent Service Pack 2
upgrade made it the only Xen-based virtualization solution with full support from
Microsoft for Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2003 guests, offering live
migration of those guests across physical machines. The platform can run these
and other legacy services unmodified with near native performance on fully
virtualized servers. Novell also recently collaborated with VMware to
incorporate VMware Virtual Machine Interface (VMI) into the SUSE Linux
Enterprise kernel, allowing for enhanced performance on both physical and
virtual servers. Users benefit from from the YaST management toolset and
network module support for new devices.
Enhanced hardware enablement includes new network, storage and other
drivers along with support for IBM cryptographic hardware.
Most recently, the U.S. Department of Defense has placed
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server on the “Unified Capabilities Approved Products List”
- making it the first Linux distribution to receive approval from the federal
agency.
