Wyse Technology Expands Desktop Virtualization Infrastructure Offerings

Wyse Announced Its Support for Citrix XenDesktop Delivery Solution Across All Wyse Product Lines

Wyse Technology announced its support for Citrix XenDesktop desktop delivery solution across all Wyse product lines.

Citrix XenDesktop is a desktop delivery solution that allows companies to virtualize Microsoft Windows desktops in the datacenter and deliver them on-demand to workers in any location. Wyse's support of XenDesktop will optimize high-speed application delivery across a virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI).

Wyse's entire line of clients, including the Wyse Viance family of devices, plug and play with Citrix XenDesktop, providing organizations with the means to capitalize on the benefits of thin computing to virtual desktops, including increased user experience, simpler administration, lower TCO, as well as a lower environmental impact.

"Every day, virtual desktop infrastructure environments gain more ground in organizations all over the world," said Jeff McNaught, Chief Marketing Officer for Wyse Technology. "This progress is in large part owing to the benefits of Citrix and Wyse working in concert. We fully expect the combination of Citrix XenDesktop and the Wyse family of desktop and virtualization software products to continue widespread adoption within organizations, departments and enterprises."

"With XenDesktop, Citrix leads the VDI market, delivering a superior user experience while simplifying desktop lifecycle management costs.   Support for Citrix XenDesktop across Wyse's desktop appliance products will accelerate the adoption of on-demand computing for all enterprises," said Raj Dhingra, group vice president and general manager, Desktop Delivery Group, Citrix Systems. "The combination of XenDesktop and Wyse desktop appliances results in a reduced desktop management costs and an end-to-end green IT solution."

"The traditional desktop model -- inherently insecure, inflexible, and hard-to-manage -- is a thing of the past," wrote Natalie Lambert, Forrester Research senior analyst for IT Infrastructure and Operations in the April 2008 report Demystifying Client Virtualization. "Organizations will instead identify their users by criteria like task-based, knowledge, or power users and will deliver dynamic desktops accordingly. After speaking to organizations looking at desktop and application virtualization, we know that client virtualization is not just an emerging trend, it's the future of the corporate PC."
