Reflex VSA Furthers Virtualization Visibility and Access Control

Functionality Baselines Network Topology Virtualization Infrastructure then Provides Access Control and Security

Reflex Security announced an initiative to further develop key visibility and access control functionality in its Reflex VSA (Virtual Security Appliance) Solution. Dubbed “VISability,” for the ability to enable Virtual Infrastructure Security, the initiative to take the approach that without the ability to visualize both the logical and physical elements of a virtual network, comprehensive security cannot be achieved.

Reflex VSA discovers virtual assets and maps them so users can attain a visual view of the virtual infrastructure that is being secured. The new initiative is driving the creation of new functionality that will allow users to drill down into virtualized infrastructure and provide a level of visibility not found in products available today. With the virtual assets fully enumerated in combination with the security controls provided by Reflex VSA, the security administrator has the insight required to understand, monitor and secure the dynamic environment.

“Visibility and security have always gone hand-in-hand, and in today’s regulatory and threat environment, that link is ever more crucial,” said Hezi Moore, CTO of Reflex Security. “Reflex VSA’s ability to expose the virtual network to the security manager and protect it from threats is a proven asset, and the first of its kind in the industry. Our development is building upon VSA’s visibility functionality to add virtual server access control which will invoke permission based controls for users that can add or remove virtual machines and virtual network components.”

Moore added that unlike NAC vendors which generally only focus on the workstation side for access control, Reflex VSA focuses on virtual servers accessing the network and everything around them. This provides a broader view and the ability to stop threats earlier on in the environment.

Reflex Security plans to make the added functionality available this quarter. Existing customers will be eligible to receive a free upgrade to the enhanced version.
