Quorum Technologies Names New CEO to Lead Its Virtualization Organization

Mike Backlund Will Lead the Development and Growth of Quorum's Growing Business in the VOS Market

Quorum Technologies announced that Mike Backlund was selected to head Quorum Technologies as its new CEO. In this new position, Mr. Backlund will leverage his software industry expertise to lead the development and growth of Quorum's growing business in the Virtual Optimization System (VOS) market.

Prior to joining Quorum Technologies, Mike Backlund was responsible for worldwide sales and new business opportunities at SpikeSource. Prior to joining SpikeSource, Backlund served as CEO of Emagia, an enterprise cash flow management software company. Before that, he was senior vice president of field operations at Interwoven, Inc., a content management software company. During his twenty plus year career in technology, Backlund has also held senior management positions at Computer Associates and Pacific Telesis Group. Mr. Backlund earned his Bachelors and Masters Degrees from University Southern California.

"I'm very excited to have been selected for this exciting new role," stated Mike Backlund. "This is a pivotal period for the company and I see a lot of opportunities for revenue and market growth. With our innovative Quorum solutions, we are delivering industry leading capabilities for the monitoring, managing and optimization of business applications running on virtual infrastructures. Our breakthrough technologies are cutting edge when it comes to application management inside the Virtual Machine (VM), irrespective of the VM technology deployed. Upcoming releases will simplify installation and configuration, and guarantee unsurpassed end-user experiences for virtualizing and managing business applications and associated resources," he added.

Quorum, the award-winning VOS, is designed to optimize applications running on virtualized infrastructure. Quorum is offered as stand-alone software or an easy to install turnkey appliance.

The Quorum technology was originally developed for use in mission-critical enterprise command and control applications for the U.S. military. This technology formed the basis for the Quorum Technologies, Inc. product set when it was recently established and funded as a separate business entity.

According to William Kehret, CEO of Themis Computer and a Quorum Technologies board member, Mr. Backlund is expected to help Quorum Technologies capitalize on the rapidly growing virtualization markets. "Mike is suited to lead Quorum Technologies to its next level of growth and performance. Mike brings to Quorum his extensive experience in the software arena, running organizations that have successfully established leadership in their marketplaces," Mr. Kehret stated. "With technology second to none, a rapidly expanding virtualization market, and Mike's leadership and management expertise, we believe that Quorum Technologies will soon be recognized as one of the virtualization market leaders," Mr. Kehret added.
