exludus Awarded Patent for High Speed File Transfer

Technology Accelerates Virtual System and Application Deployment

eXludus Technologies announced the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has issued a patent for the eXludus “Asynchronous and Autonomous Data Replication” technology.

First filed in May 2003, this patent applies to core technology embedded within the eXludus Optimizer and RepliCator software suites, which enhance system virtualization by making it easier to deploy, provision, and use virtual machines and applications.

Virtualization strategies are widely implemented to lower economic and environmental costs, as a single physical system can be represented as many virtual systems. However, lengthy file transfer times associated with delivering copies of operating systems and applications to virtual systems lead to static environments and under-utilized resources. This limits virtualization benefits. The newly patented eXludus technology resolves this issue and allows system managers to replace static ‘application silos’ with on-demand provisioning strategies that allocate resources to virtual systems more efficiently.

“With the ability to simultaneously provision thousands of virtual machines in as little as 60 seconds, our technology eliminates static deployments,” said Benoit Marchand, Founder and CEO of eXludus. “On-demand provisioning allows system managers to (re)allocate resources as circumstances dictate, a more cost and energy efficient architecture where any virtual system can be used for any purpose at any time. This approach decreases demands on data center space, power, and cooling infrastructure and greatly increases IT investment return,” Mr. Marchand concluded.
