Tele Atlas LBS Innovator Series Names Socialight's Location-Based Social Media Platform as "Attendee Choice Awards" Winner

Tele Atlas Names Winner

Tele Atlas announced Socialight the winner of the second annual Tele Atlas Attendee Choice Awards at CES 2008. Based on the application usability, innovative use of map data and market potential of their LBS applications, three finalists were selected to demonstrate their new location-based solutions in the Tele Atlas booth at CES earlier this month. Visitors to the Tele Atlas booth cast ballots and SMS votes for their favorite finalists: JotYou, Smarter Agent and Socialight, with Socialight selected as this year’s winner.

Socialight’s location-based social media platform, supported by Autodesk LocationLogic and Skyhook Wireless platforms, lets mobile phone users access and share local information, personal experiences and media from any source, including the community around them. Through the platform, users can connect with content and information relevant to their exact location, almost anywhere in the world.

"It's an honor to be selected as the Tele Atlas LBS Innovators Series Attendee Choice Awards winner at the world's largest consumer electronics show," said Socialight Co-Founder Dan Melinger. "We're passionate about letting people see a new layer of context on the real world and hope the momentum generated through the Series will pique additional interest in our platform, and the space in general."

The second annual “Attendee Choice Awards at CES” was part of the Tele Atlas LBS Innovators Series, an ongoing program held in conjunction with Tele Atlas DeveloperLinkSM to help foster innovation and enable application developers to increase their visibility, credibility and success with key participants in the industry including investors, carriers and technology providers.

As the grand prize winner, Socialight will be awarded $25,000 cash and a license to Tele Atlas map data valued at $50,000. As runners up, JotYou and Smarter Agent will each receive prizes of $10,000 cash and a license to Tele Atlas map data valued at $20,000.

The current age of digital transformation means that IT organizations must adapt their toolset to cover all digital experiences, beyond just the end users’. Today’s businesses can no longer focus solely on the digital interactions they manage with employees or customers; they must now contend with non-traditional factors. Whether it's the power of brand to make or break a company, the need to monitor across all locations 24/7, or the ability to proactively resolve issues, companies must adapt to the new world.
