Cynergy Systems announced the creation of Cynergy Labs, which is intended to give the company's employees the time, place and funding to build out new applications of RIA technologies.

The Labs process provides Cynergy designers and developers with a forum to pitch a new idea to the company's management team. If the idea is deemed to be valuable to Cynergy customers and the larger community, the vetted idea is built out with a dedicated team using Cynergy's LookFirst user-centric development process

"At Cynergy, we feel that being a leader is about more than just being big - it's about providing thought-leadership and investing in our community. RIAs have created a world where, if we can imagine it, we can build it. We wanted to create an environment that cultivates imagination and enables our team to brainstorm applications that can unlock the hidden potential in software," commented Cynergy President Carson Hager.

Cynergy Labs already has produced its first project - Maestro - which takes interactive RIA user experiences to the next level through a powerful multi-touch interface that doesn't require a physical touch. In Maestro, infrared gloves are integrated into a multi-touch Microsoft Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) application, allowing users to interact and navigate within a completely immersive and engaging experience. The functionality that Maestro's interface provides can be used in many business software applications, such as facilities management, scheduling solutions, data mining and OLAP interactions.

In addition, as a result of the collaborative and creative environment that the Labs engender, Cynergy won the Microsoft Phizzpop Design Challenge in Los Angeles in December 2007 and will have the opportunity to compete in March at South by Southwest (SXSW) to be named the best RIA firm in the world.
