Bloor Research Urges Strategic Approach to Email Encryption for Enterprises

Research Validates a Comprehensive Approach to Securing Email Communications versus Point Solutions

PALO ALTO, Calif., Jan. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- PGP Corporation, a global leader in enterprise data protection, today announced that the findings of Bloor Research recommend enterprises take a strategic approach to email encryption. The Bloor brief, "The Strategic Importance of Email Encryption," finds the potential risk to email communications growing.

According to the brief, the appropriate solution to defend against such risk is often a multi-tiered, "blended" approach, unlike point solutions frequently offered by all-in-one email hygiene appliances. This research validates the use of PGP(R) email encryption solutions, including PGP Universal(TM) Gateway Email and PGP(R) Desktop Email, both part of the award- winning PGP(R) Encryption Platform that enables enterprises to roll out encryption in phases as business requirements emerge and evolve.

"Email encryption cannot be addressed as a standalone proposition. It must be considered as part of an organization-wide encryption service that provides security for other applications and line-of-business solutions as well," says Nigel Stanley, practice leader-security, of Bloor Research. "The email encryption solutions provided by PGP Corporation not only enable the multiple levels of email security enterprises need, but also address additional needs for encryption throughout the enterprise. The point approach offered by many email hygiene gateways is not a strategic approach to email encryption."

Bloor Research's latest brief finds: -- The consequences of a data breach and regulatory requirements are making email confidentiality a primary concern for many enterprises. -- Email encryption must be considered as part of an organization's overall security strategy, not just as a compliance or departmental need. -- The value and risk of data must be considered when determining the appropriate means to protect email communications. -- Enterprises often need a range of solutions to secure email communications from the gateway to the desktop, making a lowest- common-dominator approach insufficient. -- Emerging email encryption needs, such as key management and consistent policy enforcement, can only be addressed with a strategic approach to encryption.

"The findings by Bloor Research reaffirm what our partners and thousands of customers who comprise the PGP(R) ecosystem have been telling us for many years: an holistic approach should protect data both in transit and in storage," said Phil Dunkelberger, president and CEO of PGP Corporation. "Today, enterprises must guard against internal as well as external threats to data security, something most gateway appliances don't take into account. Our approach has evolved to keep pace with these changes, providing innovations

such as PGP(R) PDF Messenger for companies wanting an email security solution that provides multiple send and delivery capabilities."

You know you need the cloud, but you’re hesitant to simply dump everything at Amazon since you know that not all workloads are suitable for cloud. You know that you want the kind of ease of use and scalability that you get with public cloud, but your applications are architected in a way that makes the public cloud a non-starter. You’re looking at private cloud solutions based on hyperconverged infrastructure, but you’re concerned with the limits inherent in those technologies.

Most technology leaders, contemporary and from the hardware era, are reshaping their businesses to do software. They hope to capture value from emerging technologies such as IoT, SDN, and AI. Ultimately, irrespective of the vertical, it is about deriving value from independent software applications participating in an ecosystem as one comprehensive solution. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Kausik Sridhar, founder and CTO of Pulzze Systems, discussed how given the magnitude of today's application ...
The “Digital Era” is forcing us to engage with new methods to build, operate and maintain applications. This transformation also implies an evolution to more and more intelligent applications to better engage with the customers, while creating significant market differentiators. In both cases, the cloud has become a key enabler to embrace this digital revolution. So, moving to the cloud is no longer the question; the new questions are HOW and WHEN. To make this equation even more complex, most ...
As you move to the cloud, your network should be efficient, secure, and easy to manage. An enterprise adopting a hybrid or public cloud needs systems and tools that provide: Agility: ability to deliver applications and services faster, even in complex hybrid environments Easier manageability: enable reliable connectivity with complete oversight as the data center network evolves Greater efficiency: eliminate wasted effort while reducing errors and optimize asset utilization Security: imple...

Companies are harnessing data in ways we once associated with science fiction. Analysts have access to a plethora of visualization and reporting tools, but considering the vast amount of data businesses collect and limitations of CPUs, end users are forced to design their structures and systems with limitations. Until now. As the cloud toolkit to analyze data has evolved, GPUs have stepped in to massively parallel SQL, visualization and machine learning.
