Developing SOA and AJAX in Parallel

How to focus on design methodologies that take advantage of the synergies between the two

Two trends in applications architecture AJAX RIA (Rich Internet Applications) on the client side and service-orientation on the server side are enabling powerful enterprise solutions that can be leveraged in diverse business environments. This session will present best practices for developing SOA and AJAX RIA in parallel, focusing on design methodologies that take advantage of the synergies between the two. Attendees will learn how to publish/subscribe architectures, facilitate group development and enforce modular design patterns, what to look for in RIA toolkits, as well as how to best ensure feature-rich, high productivity end user applications.

Speaker Bio: Michael Peachey is product manager and director of engineering for TIBCO Software's acclaimed AJAX and Rich Internet Application (RIA) toolkit: TIBCO General Interface. A recognized leader in AJAX innovation, Michael co-founded General Interface in 2000 with a vision for applications that performed like desktop GUIs, but ran in the browser. Since 2000 he has overseen the development of AJAX frameworks and solutions that have powered astoundingly rich Web applications in demanding Fortune 500 and U.S. Government deployments. Michael has furthered this vision with TIBCO since the 2004 acquisition of General Interface Corp. He has worked with leading businesses such as American Express, Hearst Publishing, Intuit, and many others to deliver business solutions optimized around Internet technologies since 1992.

Service-oriented architectures (SOAs) have evolved over the past few years out of the original vision of loosely coupled web services replacing constrained, stovepiped applications throughout enterprise IT. Every major enterprise technology vendor today has developed its own SOA strategy, supported by innumerable mid-size companies and start-ups offering specific SOA aspects or entire solutions. This explosive growth in SOA technology is in response to a global demand--IDC estimates that spending on SOA services alone will grow from $8.6 billion to more than $33 billion by 2010.

SOA World Conference & Expo
SOA World Conference & Expo 2007 brings together the best minds in the business to San Francisco for a two-day conference that offers comprehensive coverage of SOA and what it means to enterprise IT today. As Zapthink analyst Jason Bloomberg has noted, "SOA involves rethinking how the business leverages IT in many various ways." Attend SOA World Conference & Expo 2007 West and learn from more than 100 speakers about how SOA is transforming business--and the way IT and business managers think about their businesses, processes, and technology.

Virtualization Conference & Expo
