Nexaweb Announces Enterprise Web 2.0 Fall eConference Series

Sessions will cover best practices surrounding large-scale AJAX application development

Nexaweb Technologies has announced its Fall eConference Series created to help IT directors, executives and software developers examine how rich Internet applications (RIAs) enable the agile enterprise and what Forrester dubs the “Information Workplace.” Technical sessions will cover best practices surrounding large-scale AJAX application development.

Nexaweb’s eConference Series will explore the next-generation digital marketplace and how enterprises are able to become more productive, agile, and efficient through the adoption of RIAs, enterprise mashups, and composite applications. The series is divided into two tracks: “Enterprise Web 2.0 for Developers” and “Enterprise Web 2.0 for Executives,” and it will address how to effectively optimize AJAX in the enterprise and how to overcome the technical issues for more cost-effective application development and maintenance.

The “Enterprise Web 2.0 for Executives” track includes:

“Rich Internet Applications: Enabling the Information Workplace,” November 13, 2:00-3:00 p.m. ET
Presenters: Erica Driver, Principal Analyst, Forrester Research; David McFarlane, COO, Nexaweb

Forrester defines an Information Workplace (IW) as a “next-generation digital workplace based on portal, collaboration, content management, and office productivity technologies, plus many emerging technologies in the Web 2.0 and Social Computing space.” Attendees will learn about real-world IW strategies and how RIAs are enabling enterprises to become more productive, agile and efficient by empowering knowledge workers with the information they require, where and when they need it.

“Rich Internet Applications and the Agile Enterprise,” November 27, 2:00-3:00 p.m. ET
Presenters: Geoff Cubitt, President & CTO, Roundarch; David McFarlane, COO, Nexaweb

Agile enterprises use RIAs to empower workers with access to critical information that helps them make better decisions, faster. RIAs also bring together data from within and outside the enterprise and present it to users in a familiar format, resulting in a more productive and efficient workforce. Attendees will hear real world case studies about enterprises that have increased their agility, productivity and efficiency using RIAs, and learn how your organization can quickly and easily begin to enjoy the same benefits.

The “Enterprise Web 2.0 for Developers” track includes:

Optimizing AJAX Applications,” November 20, 2:00-3:00 p.m. ET
Presenter: Bob Buffone, Chief Architect, Nexaweb

As AJAX continues to mature, its use in large, robust applications is becoming more prevalent. However, enterprise-caliber applications require more extensive amounts of code, which leads to the inevitable performance bottlenecks and memory constraints associated with non-trivial application development.  Attendees will receive detailed information on how to performance-tune large Ajax applications by using a variety of available tools and techniques. Special attention will be paid to systematic techniques that yield the biggest return in the shortest amount of time, including:

  • Mozilla’s Rhino JavaScript engine as a complete performance monitoring tool for AJAX code bases
  • Injecting monitoring code into every function of JavaScript within an application to create a complete performance picture
  • Locating performance issues through drilldowns of function call counts, total time spent, average time per call, and call stacks
  • Start time optimization using Dojo, Gzip, Compression

“Easy AJAX Development with Markup + POJO,” December 4, 2:00-3:00 p.m. ET
Presenter: Bob Buffone, Chief Architect, Nexaweb

Leading enterprises rely on declarative AJAX to develop RIAs, enterprise mashups and composite applications. This approach separates the UI from business logic, resulting in faster and more cost-effective application development and maintenance. In this session, attendees will explore the advantages of the markup + POJO approach, covering topics such as:

  • Declarative UI
  • Declarative modifications
  • Data binding
  • Service invocation
