Want to know more about OpenAjax Hub 1.0, the first major deliverable from the OpenAjax Alliance? Or hear about what the roadmap for the Hub 1.1 is? Then you won't want to miss John Ferraiolo's session at AJAXWorld Conference & Expo next month (September 23-26) in Santa Clara.
"Our philosophy with Hub 1.0 is that less is more," Ferraiolo notes. "The key feature in Hub 1.0 is the pub-sub engine that allows components to pass messages to each other. Due to discipline and hardwork, we have managed to keep the reference implementation’s footprint small (right now, 2,845 bytes after running through Dojo ShrinkSafe)."
In his AJAXWorls session, Ferraiolo says he will explain why 80+ leading companies in the AJAX industry have come together to form the OpenAjax Alliance. He will introduce the alliance's mission and objectives, its accomplishments to date, and its vision for the future.
The OpenAjax Hub is a lightweight JavaScript library for linking together AJAX components via an industry standard client-side publish/subscribe manager. The pub/sub manager allows the integration of different AJAX toolkits within the same Web application.)
Other topics will include the OpenAjax Conformance trust brand; the OpenAjax Registry (the industry-wide registry for JavaScript globals that helps minimize JavaScript object collisions when mixing AJAX toolkits); the IDE Integration Working Group's efforts to define standard metadata to allow arbitrary AJAX toolkits to plug into arbitrary AJAX IDEs; the Communications Hub for enabling Comet-style server-push within mashup scenarios; and our OpenAjax initiatives around secure mashups and Mobile AJAX.
