SoonR announced the SoonR mobile AJAX-enabled interface supports accessing files and applications including mail on a Mac or PC from Apple’s iPhone. “Our vision of the future of mobile applications really shines with SoonR on the iPhone,” said Martin Frid-Nielsen, CEO of SoonR. “Leveraging mobile AJAX and without requiring users to install any software on the phone, SoonR makes the iPhone a platform to deliver compelling business applications.”
iPhone for Business Users
SoonR’s iPhone users can access the content they need from their computer, anytime and anywhere. Documents, spreadsheets and presentations are rendered especially for the iPhone screen. Over 40 document types can be viewed in an easy-to-use slideshow-style interface that lets the user page through files either to read or present content.
SoonR’s Microsoft Outlook integration provides email, contact, and calendar supporting multiple email boxes, user rules, personal folders, and spam filters.
Mac users can remotely access their Mail files, mailboxes and contacts on their computer from the iPhone or from any smartphone.
Mobile AJAX Support for iPhone Features
The iPhone’s high resolution touch screen, dynamic orientation sensors, and multi-touch features present significant challenges to mobile web sites. SoonR has adapted its full mobile AJAX interface to include the ability to scale fonts and pictures for easy access via finger tips. As users change from portrait to landscape modes, SoonR will make the proper adjustments to maintain usability. When viewing a custom rendering of a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation or any of the over forty (40) document types supported by SoonR, users can zoom and pan using the native “pinch” action on the iPhone. SoonR’s industry leading interface requires no software installed on the phone but still offers much of the dynamic UI components of native applications.
Skype from the iPhone with SoonR Talk
SoonR users can initiate a Skype call from their iPhone and use their PC or Mac to bridge the call. A SkypeOut call brings the mobile phone into the Skype conference that originated on the desktop computer. SkypeOut calls are not free, but in many cases they are very cost effective for international connections. SoonR Talk also supports Skype’s chat function and shows the user status or presence information.
Access Offline Computers
For users who prefer to turn their computers off or have less reliable Internet connections, SoonR’s AnyTime storage feature allows uninterrupted remote access. SoonR users simply designate folders to be accessible “AnyTime”, and the SoonR service automatically generates views for remote access and caches the user-designated content.
“SoonR puts your Mac's hard drive on your phone. Files, contacts - even emails - are all available from one centralized web page that's reachable from a laptop or a handheld. It's like putting a thousand-mile extension on your monitor,” said Scott Goldman, Founder and Principal, The Goldman Group.
