Infragistics announced its plans for NetAdvantage for Silverlight, Microsoft's cross-browser, cross-platform plug-in for rich media, based on a subset of Windows Presentation Foundation; and Infragistics "Project Aikido," new ASP.NET server controls, built for next-generation Web 2.0 frameworks and developed upon the Microsoft ASP.NET AJAX Extensions 1.0, and the soon-to-be-available, ASP.NET 3.5. Aikido is designed to leverage modern web development technologies. Just as it did with WPF, Infragistics is leveraging its strength with developers by introducing integrated tools that take advantage of the latest Microsoft technologies. Infragistics also announced today immediate support of Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 in NetAdvantage for WPF.
"Infragistics continues to deliver innovation, design and power by bringing to market powerful products that leverage new technologies and are the developers' choice for development of immersive User Experiences," said Dean Guida, President and CEO of Infragistics. "We were first to market with a business-class toolset for WPF and we plan to continue that tradition by delivering real, usable, viable and relevant business class UI tools for emerging technologies."
Silverlight
As the Silverlight platform develops, Infragistics is working closely with Microsoft to release a full line of Silverlight user interface development tools. Infragistics will be showing a prototype of its work at TechEd 2007 in Orlando, Florida. Based on Silverlight 1.1, the NetAdvantage for Silverlight prototype demonstrates the rich interactive applications that Silverlight is capable of. NetAdvantage for Silverlight will enable developers to create the next generation of web-based applications by delivering rich user experience and content in ways that were previously only imagined by Web developers. Project "Aikido"
According to Gartner Research(1), "AJAX has become one of the 'hottest' development approaches in IT. AJAX is being implemented into development toolkits, and enterprises will quickly adopt it during the next year."
In support of this rapid AJAX adoption, Infragistics has built Aikido from the ground up to create lighter, faster ASP.NET controls that natively and seamlessly leverage all of the modern web development technologies including AJAX, XHTML and CSS. Aikido's deep integration with the Microsoft ASP.NET AJAX 1.0 framework, and moving forward, the Microsoft ASP.NET 3.5 framework, transparently integrates platform features like AJAX and a rich object-oriented JavaScript programming model to give developers the power needed to easily create the next generation of innovative user experiences for their web applications. "Our presentation layer development tools will be better, faster, lighter, more stable and easier to use than any other product on the market," said Guida. "We are focused intently on the feedback that customers have provided, and we are working hard to make sure that these controls will exceed our customers' expectations for quality, compatibility and performance."
