JavaOne - Cenqua Debuts SOA Developer Tool

Product Announcement at JavaOne 2007 Extends Family of Products

Cenqua partner Matt Quail outlined his company's lateset product announcement, part of the Australia-based company's family of products for developers. With an emphasis on open source technologies, Cenqua now offers three specific developer tools, each addressing a different need.

Crucible is a code inspection tool that addresses what the company calls a long-recognized need. Code inspection is not adopted in software teams as often as it should be. Even with the best of intentions, many code review initiatives fail to gain traction. Not surprising given the many facets of traditional code reviews - meetings, preparation, printed code, note taking and manual follow up. Pair programming avoids these issues but has its own challenges - co-location, management acceptance, lack of records, and even personality and personal hygiene.

These pain points mean that despite the clearly demonstrated benefits, code review (in whatever form) rarely becomes an entrenched part of the average developer's day. Crucible aims to remove the impediments so that everyone, especially the smaller team, can benefit from the proven and powerful process that is code review.

Matt Quail was interviewed at JavaOne 2007 by SYS-CON.TV. The interview will be posted shortly after the conclusion of JavaOne.
