(SYS-CON Media) Sidekiq is a new search site developed by the folks that brought out Ajax Agent. The founders Anuta Udyawar & Steve Hemmady (pictured), are serial entrepreneurs and come from strong technical & management background. They were the original developers of Onepage Portal (now Sybase Enterprise Portal).
Sidekiq is an AJAX-based search/meta-search engine portal. It uses a combination of Web 2.0 app development techniques like Ajax, hidden iFrame hacks & user behavior analytics to perform simultaneous searches from multiple sites. Users can perform search in various categories including video, audio, social bookmarks, people, employment, real estate, shopping, travel, downloads, movies & many other. Search results are obtained from more than one top search engines in each category.

Says co-founder Anuta Udyawar: "I have always been passionate about making cutting edge technology (like AJAX / Web 2.0) useful & available to the masses. Sidekiq.com is one such attempt."
Key Features:
1. Performs search from top search engines in various categories all at once & make the results available in a very easy to use interface
2. Can obtain search results from almost every vertical industry & category.
3. Completely browser based (AJAX, iFrame & JavaScript) & therefore no plugins, add-ons or Active X required to be installed.
Using Sidekiq may soon become a fad. With Sidekiq, users get instant results from their favorite search site + other top search sites at once. What’s more, the search power comes with no plugins/add-ones install, no activex, etc. Users can keep surfing the web through sidekiq. All they have to do is leave the sidebar closed, and open it using a convenient tab only when they want to search something. Best of all, Sideqik is a free search engine service.
