Currently the Chief Architect for Global Computer Enterprises (GCE), which provides enterprise solutions for federal government, Simhadri designed a web-based RIA framework back in 2002 when no such framework was available in the market.
He is very well experienced with providing SOA-based solutions to the government based on open standards and emerging technologies, and is also a member of OpenAJAX Alliance.
His AJAXWorld 2007 session will explain how GCE converted a PowerBuilder-based application to a web-based application without losing any of the rich features of a thick client application such as active interaction, real-time validation of data, real-time masking of data in the page and no page reload, but still utilizing the advantages of web technologies. The session will also cover lessons learned regarding performance, user interaction, and JavaScript limitations.

Many of web-based RIA frameworks are still evolving and are in the early stages of adoption in enterprise-level business applications. Enterprise solutions need more than asynchronous methods as AJAX suggests, they primarily need APIs which provides synchronous and real-time responses to user actions just like 4GL tools. |
