City of Hamilton Creates Unified Technology Environment With Infor

Infor Public Sector Enables Agency-Wide Visibility for Improved Service to Citizens

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - August 20, 2014) -  Infor, a leading provider of business application software serving more than 70,000 customers, today announced that the City of Hamilton, located in Ontario, Canada, has elected to upgrade to the latest version of the Infor Public Sector Suite (Hansen). The city completed a major milestone in the project with successful implementation at the Hamilton Water and Wastewater division, delivering innovative functionality for managing service requests, permits and licensing, work orders, and assets. Utilizing a web-based system, the city can better prepare for future challenges and growth by creating a flexible, integrated technology environment.

Multiple departments will rely on the Infor Public Sector Suite to manage everything from roads and utilities to park maintenance and the call center. As a result of this upgrade, the city will deploy the suite across several additional units to reduce the number of third-party systems in use. By decreasing the number of disparate applications maintained, the IT department will be better positioned to focus on the city's technology initiatives.

"It is clear to us that Infor is investing in its public sector suite and will continue to do so as the needs of government agencies evolve," said Jim MacAulay, manager, Infor Public Sector, City of Hamilton Public Works Department. "We want to show citizens that we are a progressive, forward-thinking organization. Our decision to upgrade not only communicates this, but also provides us with the necessary tools to improve services agency-wide."

The Infor Public Sector Suite is designed to be user friendly and employs in-context intelligence to automatically display critical information based on the individual user and their tasks. This supports more efficient decision-making and allows employees to spend less time searching for data and more time completing value-add activities. The suite is also equipped with robust reporting and analysis capabilities that allow employees to export data directly to Microsoft Excel, giving each user the ability to quickly and easily generate personalized reports.

The system's built-in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping will allow maintenance and call center employees to automatically pinpoint service locations, helping to speed work order fulfillment. The city is considering introducing a mobile platform to provide users in the field with direct access to the system, as this would be expected to further increase efficiency by delivering real-time visibility into both new and fulfilled requests.

"If multiple departments within a local government rely on different technology applications, it creates a disparate environment with limited visibility," said Kevin Curry, senior vice president, Public Sector, Infor. "By utilizing a holistic suite, as City of Hamilton is doing with Infor, users have insight into information across the agency, which facilitates improved decision-making that is based on a much wider perspective of influencing factors and potential results."

Infor Public Sector delivers a complete suite of solutions specifically designed for all levels of government and public organizations. Currently used by more than 3,600 public organizations globally, including 16 of the 20 largest US cities and 19 of the 20 largest states, Infor Public Sector helps optimize capital investments, maximize revenue, improve cross-agency collaboration, and help public sector organizations to better serve the growing expectations of citizens. Learn more at www.infor.com/publicsector.
