LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwired) -- 08/13/14 -- Castaclip Networks, the operating company behind iLoveVideo.tv, has appointed Tom Flack as head of European operations and chief marketing officer. Based out of the company's London office, Flack will be responsible for growing the global audience of iLoveVideo.tv, developing content and strategic partnerships, and shaping the identity of the iLoveVideo.tv brand with consumers worldwide.
Flack is an expert in the shaping and delivery of audience engagement and editorial strategy. He comes to iLoveVideo.tv from The Huffington Post where, as managing editor, he was responsible for audience development, product management, user experience and commercial strategy for The Huffington Post UK, as well as AOL UK's Money, Travel, Parenting, Style, Cars and Sport channels. Before that, Flack was managing editor at AOL Money, with responsibility for editorial strategy, product development and profitability for AOL's portfolio of business and personal finance websites. He was also finance editor at Yahoo! UK, where he doubled consumer and investor audiences, and managed relationships with key content and commercial partners.
"Tom's background, experience and energy is the perfect mix for this position," said Ekow Yankah, founder and CEO of Castaclip Networks. "Our goal is to position iLoveVideo.tv as the first truly TV-like digital experience, where the viewer can kick back and enjoy a non-stop stream of interesting, entertaining and relevant content. Audience engagement is the hallmark of great TV, and Tom is the man to make it happen."
"iLoveVideo.tv is perfectly positioned at the intersection of two mega-trends: a dramatic increase in consumer consumption of online video, and automated editorial curation underpinned by data and insight," said Flack. "Understanding viewers' interests and intent, and then recommending relevant, personalized content that aligns with these criteria, is the key to maximizing engagement and monetization. I'm focused on establishing iLoveVideo.tv as the go-to destination for people who long for non-stop entertainment from a mix of great content producers."
iLoveVideo.tv's "smart curation" technology determines what viewers like -- and increasingly what they want
Video discovery is emerging as the next huge wave of consumer engagement. iLoveVideo.tv directly addresses this opportunity with the industry's first "full-stack" online video platform for professional producers and owners of short-form video. iLoveVideo.tv matches great content with people through the use of smart algorithms to curate programming that is personalized for every viewer.
The user experience is elegant and simple. As a user watches a video, the system's proprietary recommendation technology automatically selects and cues three new selections in the background. At any time, the viewer can switch from the current video to an alternate track list such as "interesting" or "shuffle." The system quickly develops insights into what the viewer likes, and delivers programming that matches the viewer's tastes.
iLoveVideo.tv enables content owners to activate and monetize their content
iLoveVideo.tv is based on a fully independent technology stack and content portfolio, making it an attractive proposition for professional content providers who want to expose their catalogue to targeted audiences. By partnering with iLoveVideo.tv, content owners and production companies can brand, distribute and better monetize their content in a reliable, brand-safe environment.
Castaclip Networks operates iLoveVideo.tv in 17 countries, with more than 50 content and monetization partners including FashionTV, E! Entertainment and SNTV. Castaclip is a pioneer in multichannel video discovery and the developer of the industry's most advanced video recommendation technology for digital channels. The iLoveVideo.tv platform is a full technology stack that includes content management, publishing, player technology, analytics and billing, and a patent-pending recommendation engine. iLoveVideo.tv currently delivers 120 million streams per month in Europe, Asia and North America from a growing inventory of more than 100,000 short-form videos. Headquartered in Berlin, Castaclip Networks has offices in Miami, London and Bangkok and is managed by an experienced team from Admax/Komli, AOL, AT&T, Axel Springer, Buongiorno, Comcast, Disney, GE, NBC Universal, and Nokia. Too often with compelling new technologies market participants become overly enamored with that attractiveness of the technology and neglect underlying business drivers. This tendency, what some call the “newest shiny object syndrome” is understandable given that virtually all of us are heavily engaged in technology. But it is also mistaken. Without concrete business cases driving its deployment, IoT, like many other technologies before it, will fade into obscurity.
