Enterprise Comet Session at AJAXWorld Conference & Expo 2007 East

Both ex-Oracle, Jacobi and Fallows have teamed up at a new start-up, Brane Corporation

Both ex-Oracle, Jonas Jacobi and John Fallows have teamed up at a new start-up, Brane Corporation, and both will be speaking on Enterprise Comet at AJAXWorld Conference & Expo 2007 East, being held 19-21 March 2007 at The Roosevelt Hotel.

Comet is an advanced technique to enable real-time messaging from a Web server to one or more browsers, even if some of those browsers are behind a firewall or proxy server.

In this talk Jonas and John will use Faces, Dojo, Bayeux, Comet, and Grizzly to illustrate how to build server-initiated message driven JavaServer Faces components, and how to leverage these to build next generation Web applications.

"Grizzly enhances the Glassfish project with Comet support via Asynchronous Request Processing (ARP), addressing any server-side scalability concerns with Comet," says Jacobi.

"Dojo Toolkit provides the client-side JavaScript support for Comet," adds Fallows, "including the Bayeux Protocol, used to coordinate shared access to the Comet notification channel coming from the server."

JavaServer Faces provides the standard component abstraction for Java EE developers to create Comet-enabled Web applications using the same building blocks as traditional Ajax JavaServer Faces components, say Jacobi and Fallows.

Scalable, server-initiated message delivery  via Enterprise Comet is one of dozens of different themes and topics being explored at AJAXWorld Conference & Expo 2007 (East).

So the Comet technique is basically just "server push"?
