The Analysis Division of Tobii Technology, the global leader in eye-tracking research solutions, announced today that it will host its annual Eye Track Behavior Conference Sept. 11-12 at the House of Sweden in Washington, D.C., to present the latest innovations in eye-tracking research technology and methodology focused on applications in behavioral and marketing sciences.
Tobii representatives and notable guest speakers will share their insights on innovations and best practices in using eye tracking for usability, market, and scientific research areas, including groundbreaking experimental concepts in research design, data collection, and processing and analysis of gaze data. Attendees will also have the opportunity to see and learn more about Tobii Glasses 2, the company’s latest wearable eye-tracking product that provides unprecedented mobility and live-viewing research capabilities. All event attendees will be eligible to win a three-month lease of the new product, which is a $15,000 value.
“It’s an extraordinarily exciting time for Tobii and the research world because over the past five years eye-tracking technology has become significantly smaller, more portable and easier to use in natural environments,” said Barbara Barclay, general manager of Tobii North America. “Today, we’re seeing the equivalent of a renaissance in research as more of the science and marketing communities are adopting eye tracking and using it to achieve discoveries that before had not been possible.”
Elli Kaplan, CEO and co-founder of Neurotrack, will kick off the event on Thursday morning as the keynote speaker. Kaplan will share how Neurotrack is leveraging eye tracking in its research and technology development for diagnosing presymptomatic Alzheimer’s disease.
Other guest speakers and presentation topics include:
- Bridget Behe, Professor of Horticultural Marketing at Michigan State University
“Enhancing the Connection Between People and Plants: Consumer Research in the Retail Environment”
- Ray Burke, Professor of Marketing at Indiana University
“Identifying the Drivers of Shopper Attention, Engagement & Purchase”

Students are also encouraged and welcome to attend to join in the discussion about how eye tracking can be used in Ph.D. and research lab projects. Students are invited to submit a methodology poster to present during the conference. The student whose poster receives the most votes on-site will be awarded an iPad Air. Students interested in submitting a poster should email an abstract of the topic to [email protected] by Aug. 22. A student discount is available.
Early bird registration fee is $200 until Aug. 15. If you register Aug. 16-31, the fee is $225. Beginning Sept. 1, registration is $250.

Developing software for the Internet of Things (IoT) comes with its own set of challenges. Security, privacy, and unified standards are a few key issues. In addition, each IoT product is comprised of (at least) three separate application components: the software embedded in the device, the back-end service, and the mobile application for the end user’s controls. Each component is developed by a different team, using different technologies and practices, and deployed to a different stack/target –...

All clouds are not equal. To succeed in a DevOps context, organizations should plan to develop/deploy apps across a choice of on-premise and public clouds simultaneously depending on the business needs. This is where the concept of the Lean Cloud comes in - resting on the idea that you often need to relocate your app modules over their life cycles for both innovation and operational efficiency in the cloud.
