Andi Gutmans (pictured), leader of the PHP Collaboration Project and leading contributor to PHP since 1997, will be speaking at AJAXWorld Conference & Expo 2007 East, being held 19-21 March at The Roosevelt Hotel in New York City. His session on "How and Why PHP Makes a Successful Back End for AJAX" is sure to be jam-packed, as PHP is a cornerstone technology in developing AJAX-enabled Web sites, powering some of the most demanding Web 2.0 sites including Yahoo! and Facebook.
"One of the reasons for PHP's ease-of-use has been its two-tier deployment model," Gutmans explains. "Now, due to the nature of AJAX-enabled Web applications, these applications are becoming three-tier applications which has additional challenges."
In his session he will not only cover some of the PHP features which make it a successful back-end for AJAX applications, but will also cover some of the exciting work which is going on both in the Zend Framework and in Eclipse which are going to provide much better frameworks and tools for building such applications.
Gutmans has a rich background in enterprise software development including real-time avionics simulation software and n-tier J2EE applications. In addition to leading the PHP Collaboration Project, he also heads up Zend product strategy, working together with both partners and the community, to build the market’s leading Web development platform.
At AJAXWorld Conference & Expo 2007 East, delegates will hear and learn not only the history, process, and inspiration behind AJAX, they will also be helped to design actual AJAX applications using JavaScript, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), the Document Object Model (DOM) and XMLHttpRequest Object.
Delegates can hand-pick sessions from six tracks pitched at a a variety of levels from Beginner to Advanced. Rather than staying at the platform-agnostic level, developers and IT professionals will find among the 100+ sessions at AJAXWorld real-world examples in all the main server-side technologies such as PHP, Java, .NET and ColdFusion.

I really don't understand the need for AJAX at all. I just finished working on a contract project where they changed from their regular focus to AJAX in the middle of the project and all it did was cause a disaster. Web sites shouldn't take a long time to go from BETA to easily accessible and useable and it seems that the more AJAX comes into play in the life of a web site, the longer it takes to actually build the web site and it doesn't make that site any better. It's a very large waste of time as far as I am concerned and I think that sites would be far better off if we could get people to think about constructing the web site in terms of how it will work to do what it's supposed to do instead of worrying only about what it will do and not about how they will go about making it do those things. |
