Andi Gutmans (pictured), leader of the PHP Collaboration Project and leading contributor to PHP since 1997, will be speaking at AJAXWorld Conference & Expo 2007 East, being held 19-21 March at The Roosevelt Hotel in New York City.

His session on "How and Why PHP Makes a Successful Back End for AJAX" is sure to be jam-packed, as PHP is a cornerstone technology in developing AJAX-enabled Web sites, powering some of the most demanding Web 2.0 sites including Yahoo! and Facebook.

"One of the reasons for PHP's ease-of-use has been its two-tier deployment model," Gutmans explains. "Now, due to the nature of AJAX-enabled Web applications, these applications are becoming three-tier applications which has additional challenges."

In his session he will not only cover some of the PHP features which make it a successful back-end for AJAX applications, but will also cover some of the exciting work which is going on both in the Zend Framework and in Eclipse which are going to provide much better frameworks and tools for building such applications.

Gutmans has a rich background in enterprise software development including real-time avionics simulation software and n-tier J2EE applications. In addition to leading the PHP Collaboration Project, he also heads up Zend product strategy, working together with both partners and the community, to build the market’s leading Web development platform.
