Beam Technologies Raises $5 Million From Drive Capital

LOUISVILLE, KY--(Marketwired - August 08, 2014) - Beam Technologies -- a data-driven oral health startup and creator of the first connected toothbrush -- announced today that it has received $5 million in Series A financing from Drive Capital.

Beam's technology collects data about a user's daily hygiene through its Bluetooth-enabled Beam Brush and displays it on a connected smartphone app. The sensor-outfitted brush measures how often and how long a person brushes, communicating with the mobile app to start a two-minute timer when brushing begins. During that timeframe users can listen to music or watch video clips from other apps while brushing.

"We've been working hard to transform the mundane two-minutes people spend brushing their teeth to create a highly engaging user experience -- so much so that on our first run, the Beam Brush sold out," said Beam Technologies' founder and CEO, Alex Frommeyer.

The company's Series A financing will be used to accelerate product development and expand the team. Beam Technologies will move its headquarters to Columbus, Ohio, while maintaining an office in Louisville, Kentucky.

"We're excited to partner with Beam Technologies and to support their growth," said Ned Schwartz, partner at Drive Capital. "True to form for Midwest entrepreneurs, Alex and his team have created an innovative product that is disrupting a massive market and un-tapping previously inaccessible data to provide better oral care to consumers."

It cannot be overseen or regulated by any one administrator, like a government or bank. Currently, there is no government regulation on them which also means there is no government safeguards over them. Although many are looking at Bitcoin to put money into, it would be wise to proceed with caution. Regular central banks are watching it and deciding whether or not to make them illegal (Criminalize them) and therefore make them worthless and eliminate them as competition. ICOs (Initial Coin Offerings) are something most have no idea as to what it means and how you utilize it. Where is the "Stamp of Approval" or "Stamp of Legitimacy" on some of these Bitcoin websites (how do you know you are not dealing with a scammer?)
