Alexander Stojanovic Joins DataRPM Advisory Board

DataRPM, the world's leading platform for instant big data discovery, today announced that preeminent Big Data expert and 20-year industry veteran, Alexander Stojanovic, has joined its advisory board.

“DataRPM has a clear and disruptive view of Big Data discovery – far larger than traditional information retrieval and indexing solutions aimed at enterprises,” said Alexander Stojanovic. “The company is led by a passionate, articulate and tech-savvy team of founders along with a top-notch cadre of business and technical professionals who truly understand how to distill complex technologies – natural language processing, machine learning and large-scale computing – into a compelling form that businesses can harness immediately.

“This is a market which will explode over the next five years as the interface gap between how business people need to find, share and leverage knowledge at scale moves up the stack from APIs and programming frameworks to the sorts of natural language interfaces and models that DataRPM offers. I am proud to join as an advisor and provide my expertise to the DataRPM leadership team.”

Mr. Stojanovic is a Vice President at Oracle, where he founded, designed and is driving the business strategy for the new Oracle Data Enrichment Cloud Service. Prior to Oracle, he was General Partner and Chief Scientist at Frost Data Capital, where he focused on cloud analytics platforms, semantic search and exploratory data analysis platforms. During his time with Frost Data Capital, Mr. Stojanovic co-founded Ubix Labs, a scalable real-time analytics cloud startup, and was involved from inception with the business and technical evolution of MAANA, a Hadoop-based semantic indexing and search startup.

Previously, he was a General Manager and Senior Partner at Microsoft, where he founded the HDInsight team to deliver Apache Hadoop on Azure and Windows platforms, and drove Big Data strategy to focus on Open Source Software Engagement. Before Microsoft, Mr. Stojanovic was Director of Engineering at BEA Systems, where he was co-architect of the market-leading Weblogic Integration 8.1 product.

“We are honored to add a Big Data pioneer and technology expert of Alexander’s caliber to our advisory board,” said Sundeep Sanghavi, co-founder and CEO of DataRPM. “Having someone of Alexander’s stature lending his proficiency to DataRPM’s disruptive instant Big Data discovery solution will be an invaluable asset for our company and a tremendous boon for our customers.”

About DataRPM

DataRPM is an industry pioneer in cognitive data discovery, the next generation of big data technology, delivering hyper-fast results to organizations challenged by the volume, velocity and variety of their big data. Our patent-pending Computational Graph Search technology enables hyper-smart, automatic modeling of data from disparate sources using semantic algorithms, eliminating the need to manually build complex data warehouses for discovery. DataRPM also creates hyper-fluid data lakes, enabling a more agile way to access and manage big data from multiple sources. Using a hyper-aware, natural language search interface to analyze and visualize data, DataRPM provides an easy, question-and-answer user experience for big data discovery. DataRPM was named “Cool Vendor” in Content and Social Analytics by Gartner in 2014.

In his session at 21st Cloud Expo, Michael Burley, a Senior Business Development Executive in IT Services at NetApp, described how NetApp designed a three-year program of work to migrate 25PB of a major telco's enterprise data to a new STaaS platform, and then secured a long-term contract to manage and operate the platform. This significant program blended the best of NetApp’s solutions and services capabilities to enable this telco’s successful adoption of private cloud storage and launching of virtual storage services to its enterprise market.
Despite being the market leader, we recognized the need to transform and reinvent our business at Dynatrace, before someone else disrupted the market. Over the course of three years, we changed everything - our technology, our culture and our brand image. In this session we'll discuss how we navigated through our own innovator's dilemma, and share takeaways from our experience that you can apply to your own organization.
When building large, cloud-based applications that operate at a high scale, it’s important to maintain a high availability and resilience to failures. In order to do that, you must be tolerant of failures, even in light of failures in other areas of your application. “Fly two mistakes high” is an old adage in the radio control airplane hobby. It means, fly high enough so that if you make a mistake, you can continue flying with room to still make mistakes. In his session at 18th Cloud Expo, Lee Atchison, Principal Cloud Architect and Advocate at New Relic, will discuss how this same philosophy can be applied to highly scaled applications, and can dramatically increase your resilience to failure.
