A major release of the open source ThinWire platform went out the door on Friday. AJAXWorld Conference & Expo 2007 East speaker and lead ThinWire developer, Joshua Gertzen (pictured), reports that it has already skyrocketed in its ranking on SourceForge.net to #8 out of 136,000 projects.Combined with ThinWire's announcement that the platform will henceforth be licensed under the less restrictive and commercial friendly LGPL, some are predicting that the framework could change the way that business applications are built.
Readers can check out our latest Playground demo by visiting here.
"We haven't had a chance to construct a beautiful skin for it yet," Gertzen notes, "but the framework is fully capable of being styled to a high degree."
"If you get a chance," Gertzen adds, "check out the Rounded Borders & Effect (Opacity Change) examples that are a part of the demo."
Meantime a full list of other features in this release can be found here.
