ANTWERP, BELGIUM -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 12/11/06 -- JavaPolis 2006 -- GigaSpaces(TM) and Lightstreamer today announced they have completed a joint development effort that streamlines the integration of the two organizations' complimentary products. Via the joint development, GigaSpaces' enterprise infrastructure software that is revolutionizing the architecture of distributed, data-intensive applications may be seamlessly integrated with Lightstreamer's offering which features an innovative push/streaming engine based on the AJAX-Comet paradigm. In combination, the integrated products link the high-performance and linear-scalability capabilities of GigaSpaces' space-based architecture with Lightstreamer's solutions for streaming real-time information to Web browsers and custom application clients.
Streaming AJAX, also known as Comet, allows Web applications to update end-users' displays in real time, without reloading the Web page. The combined GigaSpaces-Lightstreamer solution provides this rich user experience with the scalability and performance it requires to handle enterprise-grade applications, such as trading systems, risk management, portfolio pricing, GPS tracking, remote monitoring, news systems and many more. It can be made highly reliable, while also attaining a new level of ease of use and compatibility.
"Lightstreamer's streaming AJAX capabilities are the cutting-edge in Web 2.0 technologies," said Geva Perry, Chief Marketing Officer at GigaSpaces. "With the scalability and performance of GigaSpaces, this technology is now relevant to the most demanding enterprise applications."
Lightstreamer, based in Italy, joins a large and growing list of technology leadership companies worldwide that are partnering with GigaSpaces to optimize product offerings using the underlying space-based architecture. These companies include Intel, HP, IBM, Sun, Azul, Voltaire, Platform Computing and others.
"There has been a lot of talk about the lack of adoption of Web 2.0 technology by enterprises," said Mauro Fantechi, Chief Executive Officer at Lightstreamer. "One of the barriers that has been preventing this is the lack of enterprise-level scalability. With GigaSpaces at the back-end, Lightstreamer can now offer its customers the fast, interactive and rich user experience of streaming AJAX with practically limitless scalability."
About Lightstreamer
Lightstreamer is a high-performance, Java-based push/streaming engine based on the AJAX-Comet paradigm that delivers real-time textual data to Web browsers and to desktop applications. When using browsers as a client, nothing is installed or downloaded (no applets or ActiveX, but only pure HTML/JavaScript). Lightstreamer was originally developed by the Financial Systems Integration activity of privately held Par-Tec SpA group (founded in 1998). In 2004 a separate company was formed within the group as an 'ISV' to provide Lightstreamer 'Push' middleware solutions for streaming real-time Market Data, or any live information, to Web browsers and custom application clients. Lightstreamer is compatible with many browsers on the market, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Netscape, Safari, etc. For more information, see www.lightstreamer.com where several on-line demonstrations are available.
