INSIDE Secure Protects Premium Content for Snap, Sky Deutschland’s Online Media Application

INSIDE Secure (NYSE Euronext Paris: INSD), a leader in embedded security solutions for mobile and connected devices today announces it has licensed its downloadable DRM Fusion Agent™ software to Sky Deutschland AG. Sky Deutschland will use it to protect premium video content delivery for its Snap online media service.

INSIDE Secure’s DRM Fusion Agent software is embedded in Sky Deutschland’s Snap apps for Android and iOS based devices. Snap is a new TV and movie OTT (Over-The-Top) offering, available to existing customers as well as non-Sky subscribers. OTT refers to the delivery of video, audio and other media over the internet without being subject to distribution via a cable or broadcast satellite operator.

INSIDE Secure’s downloadable DRM provides the critical and studio-approved Digital Rights Management (DRM) needed to protect Snap’s VOD library. The library includes thousands of films on top of TV season box-sets, HBO library content, movies, children’s programs and Disney content. Snap is available on the internet, iPad, iPhone, selected Samsung Galaxy devices and Smart TVs.

“INSIDE Secure’s DRM Fusion Agent greatly contributes towards securing digital content deals for pay-TV providers. It supports Snap’s operation as a successful platform, enabling us to bring an extensive content catalog to our existing customers and, more importantly, to a whole new audience,” said Euan Smith, Executive Vice President Product & Operations at Sky Deutschland. “Sky pioneered the concept of a content rich, live and on demand entertainment service with Sky Go. Snap expands this service by giving Sky customers and all entertainment fans the chance to enjoy a wide new selection of top quality content from the Sky collection.”

“Our collaboration with Sky Deutschland is increasing testament to our market leadership in downloadable DRM for securely distributing high value content,” said Simon Blake Wilson, executive vice president of the Mobile Security division at INSIDE Secure. “With leading customers like Sky, the BBC, HBO, Amazon and others as well as with all the major Hollywood studios, we are increasingly establishing our DRM Fusion Agent as the de facto DRM solution that also offers the best user experience on multi-screens.”

INSIDE’s DRM Fusion Agent is the world’s leading DRM solution for Android, iOS and BlackBerry 10 (BB10) devices. Consumers worldwide have already downloaded more than 80 million mobile apps with downloadable DRM Fusion Agent software embedded in them, protecting billions of premium content playbacks.

In addition, DRM Fusion Agent offers multiple content protection technologies both in software only and hardware implementations. This in turn enables the ever-growing business of distributing premium content to be played on Apple iOS, Android and BB10-based devices. Approved for use by Apple, Microsoft, BlackBerry and all the major Hollywood studios, the downloadable DRM Fusion Agent software provides feature-rich and multi-layered content protection, as well as rights management for multiple device platforms.

The INSIDE downloadable DRM Fusion Agent software enables distribution of high-value content and dramatically reduces DRM implementation costs and time to market. It also enables media companies and high-value content providers to achieve revenue from service deployment more quickly by eliminating the dependence on device manufacturers.

There are several IoTs: the Industrial Internet, Consumer Wearables, Wearables and Healthcare, Supply Chains, and the movement toward Smart Grids, Cities, Regions, and Nations. Digital Initiatives create new ways of conducting business, which drive the need for increasingly advanced security and regulatory compliance challenges with exponentially more damaging consequences. Cognitive Computing is becoming the foundation for a new generation of solutions that have the potential to transform business. Unlike traditional approaches to building solutions, a cognitive computing approach allows the data to help determine the way applications are designed. "A lot of times people will come to us and have a very diverse set of requirements or very customized need and we'll help them to implement it in a fashion that you can't just buy off of the shelf," explained Nick Rose, CTO of Enzu, in this SYS-CON.tv interview at 18th Cloud Expo, held June 7-9, 2016, at the Javits Center in New York City, NY.
A strange thing is happening along the way to the Internet of Things, namely far too many devices to work with and manage. It has become clear that we'll need much higher efficiency user experiences that can allow us to more easily and scalably work with the thousands of devices that will soon be in each of our lives. Enter the conversational interface revolution, combining bots we can literally talk with, gesture to, and even direct with our thoughts, with embedded artificial intelligence, wh...
It's easy to assume that your app will run on a fast and reliable network. The reality for your app's users, though, is often a slow, unreliable network with spotty coverage. What happens when the network doesn't work, or when the device is in airplane mode? You get unhappy, frustrated users. An offline-first app is an app that works, without error, when there is no network connection.
