DisplayLink Launches Industry Leading DL-5900 Dual-Head USB 3.0 Universal Docking Chipset With UHD 4K Support, Audio, and Integrated Ethernet at Computex 2014

DisplayLink®, the leading provider of USB Graphics technology, today announced the official launch of its industry leading DL-5900 USB 3.0 dual-head chipset with support for 4K resolution, integrated audio, and Gigabit Ethernet. The DL-5900 is the third chip in the DL-5000 family from DisplayLink since CES 2014.

The new DL-5900 brings dual-head support to the DL-5000 range, adding support for users to connect dual displays up to 2048x1152 resolution or a single 3840x2160 UHD or 2560x1600 (2K), future proofing IT connectivity and expansion.

“As UHD 4K products continue to roll out, DisplayLink is excited to announce production availability of our third 4K chip here at Computex 2014,” said John Cummins, Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing. “DisplayLink’s DL-5000 family uniquely enables notebooks and tablets that don’t natively support Ultra High Definition to connect to 4K displays, providing a cost effective way for IT professionals to deploy higher resolution displays without needing to replace their whole notebook portfolio, the new DL-5900 targets the rapidly growing multi-head docking environment.”

DisplayLink’s sophisticated algorithms preserve a no-compromise user experience by dynamically adjusting compression based on multiple factors including bandwidth, throughput, and link status, making it the ideal solution for universal docking stations. With the universality of USB on all compute devices and platforms, enterprise IT professionals can easily deploy flexible docking strategies.

The DisplayLink DL-5900 launch is accompanied by DisplayLink’s proven software drivers with updates available from DisplayLink website. The DL-5900 is in production today and OEM products will be available soon.
