New York state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman and Congressman José E. Serrano have announced new legislation that would require a kill switch on all smartphones.  If the phone were stolen, you'd call your provider and they'd have to "kill" the phone by making it completely inoperable and wiping all personal data from the device. Firefox OS, an upstart smartphone operating system aimed at challenging the Apple and Google duopoly, will power a new category of $25 smartphones for developing countries, the California-based nonprofit Mozilla Foundation.  Read Original Content

Average smartphone use in Germany was 81 minutes per day in 2013, up by three minutes from 2012, according to the Mobile Monitor report from Goldmedia.
