The first International AJAXWorld (a registered trademark of SYS-CON Media) Conference & Expo generated record press coverage for any i-technology event in the past 6 years. A quick search on Google News brought 410 stories filed under the keyword search "AJAXWorld."
Typical of the coverage was the story from ADT Magazine, whose John K. Waters wrote, in a report titled "Nexaweb and JackBe Take Web 2 to the Enterprise":
"Last week's AjaxWorld Conference and Expo ... had the feel of an early JavaOne—which is to say, the place was positively quivering with possibility."
"There were some great sessions and demos," Waters continued. (IBM's QEDwiki drag-and-drop mashup tool was his personal favorite), "and Jesse James Garrett (He Who Did Coineth Ajax) was there to bless the event."

Here's how the ADT report ended [emphasis added]:
"I heard a rumor, which I was unable to verify before my deadline, that the event was successful enough that the show's organizers are planning to hold the next one at Jacob Javitz Center in New York. Like I said, smells like JavaOne."
But Waters was far from alone. Reports on the Conference & Expo are still appearing almost hourly, including the following:

The blogosphere is abuzz too: "It was a conference where the decisions for which panel to attend were seldom easy, and sometimes agonizingly hard," wrote Kurt Cagle, perhaps the most prolific AJAXWorld blogger of them all, despite having his own business to conduct at Santa Clara in the course of the fast-paced 3 days.
Here is a brief round-up of some of the blogged comments:
"This past week I spoke at the AjaxWorld Conference here in Santa Clara. Enjoyed giving my talk and had some great conversations afterward. But the highlight was getting to hear my fellow cube-mate, Doug Crockford, give his abbreviated Advanced JavaScript talk. It's definitely great material."
--Yahoo! AJAX Evangelist Bill Scott
"At the AJAXWorld conference, JackBe and TIBCO Software are unveiling initiatives to more tightly link service-oriented architectures and AJAX."
--WebSpherePower Magazine
"This was one of the best conferences that I have been to in a long time."
--Kurt Cagle
"OpenLaszlo got a great deal of attention at AjaxWorld this week, especially as they describe their efforts around 'Legals' which is their next generation solution that supports multiple runtimes. Although limited in its ability to support all the current GUI controls for DHTML generation, the project certainly looks quite promising. Developers wanting to develop Ajax applications that target multiple runtimes and multple browsers will find the direction that OpenLaszlo very enticing."
--Bob Zurek, Emerging Internet Technologies, IBM
"I found the mixture of vendors and overall attendees to be an interesting mix Web developers with a fair number of newbies tossed into the mix.
All in all, the show seemed to show more of the Java/OS segment of the AJAX population - as opposed to the Atlas/.Net crowd. There were actually some reps from the Atlas world such as ComponentArt and Telerik with some neat Ajax "controls".
On the non-MSFT side I enjoyed meeting with reps from Icesoft, Jackbe, Backbase and Tibco. One of the nice things about some of these smaller companies is that they actually send their CEOs, founders and chief architects to meet attendees in the demo pavilion. I found this to be the most interesting in my experience at AJAXworld. I enjoyed witnessing first hand the entrepreneurial spirit at its best at this show."
-- Chris Schalk, Oracle
