Telerik Icenium Simplifies Mobile Application Development with Addition of Cloud Mobile Back-end Services

Telerik, an end-to-end provider of application development tools and solutions for building cross-platform applications, today announced the latest advancements to Icenium. As part of the latest release, Icenium simplifies mobile application development by adding cloud mobile back-end services, thus removing the need to manage complex servers and infrastructure.

According to Gartner, “By 2016, 40% of mobile application development projects will leverage cloud mobile back-end services.”1 Telerik Icenium provides an easy path for developers to make that transition to the cloud by providing a complete mobile application development platform that enables the creation, building and publishing of iOS and Android applications, using JavaScript and HTML.

With today’s release, Icenium speeds and simplifies development time by powering mobile apps with cloud mobile back-end services including data and file storage, user management, cloud code execution and email notifications. In conjunction with Kendo UI, Telerik’s popular HTML/JavaScript framework, Icenium provides a comprehensive platform to create full featured mobile applications for multiple devices, in a single development environment. Developers can now focus on the app user experience and functionality rather than the time-consuming and costly back-end, resulting in more robust, compelling applications.

“As the mobile application development market continues to advance, with it comes the need for full, end-to-end platforms equipped to handle its unique requirements,” said Todd Anglin, EVP of Cross-Platform Tools & Services at Telerik. “Telerik has a proven track record of innovation, success and customer satisfaction. Our solutions are widely adopted across a customer-base of over 100,000 paying developers and Telerik Icenium is poised to be the platform of choice for those looking to meet market demand for mobile applications quickly and easily.”

Additionally, Telerik is the only vendor in the market to offer proven, comprehensive services and support. As developers within organizations of all shapes and sizes move from prototyping applications to full production, Telerik is uniquely positioned to support them. The company has a very successful track record and currently works with more than 450 of the Fortune 500.

New features to Icenium include:

  • Icenium Everlive project templates - Automatically provisions the cloud back-end service, creating the necessary types and fields, so that the sample app can go live in seconds.
  • Data navigator - Allows developers to explore the structure of back-end projects, navigate to types, fields, permissions and have everything needed for developing the next great mobile app.
  • Cloud code – Execute business logic and validations without replication on the client where process and response time is crucial.
  • User management – Make apps social by allowing users to register and login with a few lines of code, minimizing authentication and authorization, behind the scenes.
  • Kendo UI DataViz - Create rich HTML5 charts and gauges that can be easily embedded in hybrid mobile apps. This makes it possible to render sleek charts in virtually every environment, from older browsers to mobile browsers on platforms like iOS and Android.

With these and other additions, Icenium is the most compelling mobile application development platform for building hybrid app UIs with supporting cloud-based back-end services. The latest iteration of Icenium is currently available for download at www.icenium.com. Pricing starts at $16.00 per month. For details, go to: http://www.icenium.com/pricing. For those interested in more details, the company will host an online event on May 29th at 11: 00 AM Eastern Standard Time. To hear more please register here.

This month @nodexl announced that ServerlessSUMMIT & DevOpsSUMMIT own the world's top three most influential Kubernetes domains which are more influential than LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, Medium, Infoworld and Microsoft combined. NodeXL is a template for Microsoft® Excel® (2007, 2010, 2013 and 2016) on Windows (XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10) that lets you enter a network edge list into a workbook, click a button, see a network graph, and get a detailed summary report, all in the familiar environment of the Excel® spreadsheet application. A collection of network maps and reports created with NodeXL can be seen in the NodeXL Graph Gallery, an archive of data sets uploaded by the NodeXL user community.
At CloudEXPO Silicon Valley, June 24-26, 2019, Digital Transformation (DX) is a major focus with expanded DevOpsSUMMIT and FinTechEXPO programs within the DXWorldEXPO agenda. Successful transformation requires a laser focus on being data-driven and on using all the tools available that enable transformation if they plan to survive over the long term. A total of 88% of Fortune 500 companies from a generation ago are now out of business. Only 12% still survive. Similar percentages are found throughout enterprises of all sizes.
Technology has changed tremendously in the last 20 years. From onion architectures to APIs to microservices to cloud and containers, the technology artifacts shipped by teams has changed. And that's not all - roles have changed too. Functional silos have been replaced by cross-functional teams, the skill sets people need to have has been redefined and the tools and approaches for how software is developed and delivered has transformed. When we move from highly defined rigid roles and systems to more fluid ones, we gain agility at the cost of control. But where do we want to keep control? How do we take advantage of all these new changes without losing the ability to efficiently develop and ship great software? And how should program and project managers adapt?
Because Linkerd is a transparent proxy that runs alongside your application, there are no code changes required. It even comes with Prometheus to store the metrics for you and pre-built Grafana dashboards to show exactly what is important for your services - success rate, latency, and throughput. In this session, we'll explain what Linkerd provides for you, demo the installation of Linkerd on Kubernetes and debug a real world problem. We will also dig into what functionality you can build on top of the tools provided by Linkerd such as alerting and autoscaling.
