AJAX and Comet from the Server Side

AJAX and specially Comet have significant impacts on how Web apps are designed and how they can be deployed and scaled

When people think of AJAX, they mostly consider the client side. However, AJAX and specially Comet have significant impacts on how web apps are designed and how they can be deployed and scaled. This session examines the requirements for a Java AJAX server, the solutions available from Jetty and other servers, and will summrize the efforts to date to standardize these in the servlet specification.

Greg Wolkins will present his session at the First International AJAXWorld Conference & Expo.

Greg Wilkins is the lead developer of the Jetty open source servlet server and a member of the expert group for the servlet specification from the Java Community Process. He has also contributed to Geronimo, JBoss, activemq and other open source projects. Born in Sydney in 1964, Greg graduated from Sydney University with an honors degree in Computer Science in 1986. Since then he has worked as developer, designer, team leader and architect on varied problem domains including telecoms and WWW. He is the founder of Mort Bay Consulting and the CEO of Webtide.

It cannot be overseen or regulated by any one administrator, like a government or bank. Currently, there is no government regulation on them which also means there is no government safeguards over them. Although many are looking at Bitcoin to put money into, it would be wise to proceed with caution. Regular central banks are watching it and deciding whether or not to make them illegal (Criminalize them) and therefore make them worthless and eliminate them as competition. ICOs (Initial Coin Offerings) are something most have no idea as to what it means and how you utilize it. Where is the "Stamp of Approval" or "Stamp of Legitimacy" on some of these Bitcoin websites (how do you know you are not dealing with a scammer?)
