Go Daddy Controls Storage Costs and Optimizes Service Using SwiftTest

SwiftTest Inc., the leader in storage validation, today announced that Go Daddy, the Web’s top platform for small businesses, is using its technology to help control storage costs and optimize service delivery. With SwiftTest, the world’s largest website hosting provider is now free to innovate with the latest storage technologies while saving money and improving performance.

Go Daddy’s storage team manages a hefty (28 Petabytes) and rapidly growing storage infrastructure with 99.999% uptime in a storage-as-a-service model. The team faces the constant challenge of innovating to improve service delivery and to reduce costs. Having the ability to validate innovations prior to deployment in production was a critical requirement for Go Daddy, as “testing in production” with live customers was not an option. Adoption of SwiftTest has turned what was once an arduous process into an efficient, effective solution.

“If you can’t validate technology before it’s deployed into production, then you are flying blind,” said Julia Palmer, storage protection and data manager at Go Daddy. “SwiftTest gives us the confidence of knowing exactly how our infrastructure will behave in the real world, in a matter of days instead of months. It helps us determine an optimal balance of better, faster, and affordable storage system technologies that ultimately benefit Go Daddy’s 11 million customers worldwide.

SwiftTest is leveraged by Go Daddy in a variety of use cases including product bake-offs, new technology evaluations, density testing, and routine change management. “We can now assess cutting edge storage technologies like SSDs, caching / tiering, and dedup against our full production requirements, faster and more accurately than ever before,” says Justin Richardson, senior storage engineer at Go Daddy. “SwiftTest puts us in the driver’s seat when it comes to our storage roadmap and our cost structure.”

Offering a robust validation solution across File, Block and Object storage, SwiftTest can stress modern data center infrastructure to its limits with highly accurate, real-life traffic and tremendous load. A storage validation process powered by SwiftTest is an integral step in a journey towards an improved user experience, cost savings, and confidence in using the latest technologies.

“Our mission is to empower storage experts like the Go Daddy team with the insight they need to improve service delivery and reduce costs and become company superstars,” said Philippe Vincent, president and CEO of SwiftTest. “We’re honored to be a part of their success.”

Julia Palmer and Justin Richardson will also speak at the 2013 SNW event in Orlando. Attend their presentation entitled, Storage Performance: Go Daddy Case Study on Testing New NAS Technologies taking place on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 from 3 – 3:40 pm local time.
