Ricoh's new production series brings enhanced productivity to printing market

MALVERN, Pa., Feb. 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Ricoh Americas Corporation today announced the Ricoh Pro™ C901 Graphic Arts + and Ricoh Pro™ C901s Graphic Arts +. The latest in the brand's digital color production system lineup continues to deliver exceptional quality and performance while offering new enhancements in productivity and paper handling that help customers remain competitive in the growing production print environment.

The Ricoh Pro C901/C901s Graphic Arts + increases productivity with the new Fiery E42 and E82 print servers, running on the latest EFI FS-100Pro platform. New features to accelerate job preparation and enable more work per shift include: a HyperRIP for improving performance by processing multiple job pages simultaneously, and Adobe PDF Print Engine (APPE 2.5), which enables PDF ripping without conversion to PostScript to avoid PDF file errors. Additionally, the Smart Media feature performs automatic tray association when a user's favorite media is loaded, saving time and minimizing errors.

The Ricoh Pro C901/C901s Graphic Arts + addresses the need for heavier media support with duplexing substrates up to 350gsm included as part of the standard settings while the media library is continually updated to reflect broader grade choices. This enables businesses to offer greater flexibility in their portfolios to meet customer needs.

"For high-volume production print environments, the Ricoh Pro C901/C901s Graphic Arts + is the best option to deliver high-quality output with maximum power and productivity," said Tim Vellek, Vice President, Production Printing Business Group, Ricoh Americas Corporation. "As Ricoh continues to move forward with a services-led approach, the systems are also a great example of how our hardware and solutions are combining to help customers leverage the wealth of knowledge and information that already exists in their organizations to take their business into the future."

As many of today's print service providers are transitioning to full marketing service providers, the ability to offer a wide variety of solutions, as well as high-quality color prints, is essential. To help address this requirement, Ricoh has developed its own set of solutions under the TotalFlow brand and also partnered with several key third-party vendors – PTI Marketing Technologies, EFI, Rochester Software Associates, Objectif Lune, to name a few.

As a result, Ricoh offers solution bundles that incorporate the C901/C901s Graphic Arts + Edition. These bundles consist of hosted and cloud-based software solutions, a robust line of third-party finishing equipment, business development programs and professional services that are fully supported by Ricoh's Production Printing Business Group. As Ricoh transforms to a services-led company, it will continue to address customers' needs by delivering new end-to-end solutions that include printing and business-related solutions.

Businesses will continue to meet their production environment demands with the advance color and speed of the Ricoh Pro C901/C901S Graphic Arts +. Ricoh's PxP™ chemical toners and oil-less fusing technology ensures the systems deliver near offset results at production speeds of up to 90-pages-per-minute for multiple paper types with Air-Assist Feeding technology. Consistent image quality is also assured with advanced image stabilization, single direction development, mechanical paper registration, enhanced fusing technologies and automatic calibration adjustments.

Both models are designed with Trained Customer Replaceable Units (TCRUs). With TCRUs, key imaging components can be easily replaced by trained customers. This helps business to operate at peak efficiency and maximize system uptime without waiting for service.

You're getting pitched every day from your legacy enterprise software and hardware vendors about "cloud." They're doing an amazing job of convincing your CIO and CTO about what cloud is and how you should use it. The reality is they're defending their shrinking market share and keeping you on the legacy treadmill for as long as they can by selling you solutions that aren't "cloud." In her session at the 12th International Cloud Expo, Niki Acosta, Cloud Evangelista for Rackspace, will talk thro...

One of the most compelling promises of the cloud is that you can pull out a credit card and be working in minutes. No purchase orders to fill out, no equipment to wait for on the loading dock. Just instant access to the resources you need, when you need them. But accessibility comes at a price, and an unintentional consequence may be that you create yet another orphaned identity silo. Enterprise IT has spent years consolidating its mishmash of directories, only to discover that cloud now threate...
