Apkudo Announces Public Availability of Free App Compatibility Analysis Platform "Apkudo for Developers"

Lets Developers Run Their Apps on Every Available Android Device Before They Launch

BALTIMORE, MD -- (Marketwire) -- 01/24/13 -- Apkudo, an Android user experience innovation company, today announced the public availability of the Apkudo for Developers platform. Now out of private beta, Apkudo for Developers reduces launch anxiety by allowing developers to run their pre-launch apps on every available Android device in the Apkudo portfolio, providing detailed reports on which device models, Android versions, and manufacturers their app passed or failed on -- and also what kind of failures they can expect. A free service, Apkudo gives Android application developers the confidence of knowing whether or not their app will work on a given device, assuring they can give the best possible user experience to consumers.

"Android implementations diverge in hardware, look and feel, behavior, APIs and other aspects, and developers have found their apps work on some Android devices but not on others. With hundreds of Android-based devices on the market, and new devices released every month, app launches are daunting and the risk of unexpected failures is high," said Josh Matthews, Apkudo CEO and co-founder. "The message we've heard from developers is that they're anxious before an app launch. Our goal is to tackle that launch anxiety by giving them the confidence and the tools to have a successful launch."

Apkudo for Developers works by running Android apps on every available Android device in the Apkudo portfolio, which currently stands at over 260 devices and growing every week. Developers simply upload their app, which is then installed, executed and exercised in an automated fashion on real Android devices. Developers receive analysis reports detailing execution and performance results, including failure type, failure tracebacks, and full system logs, across the whole Apkudo portfolio. Apkudo is currently offering analysis on its phone portfolio and will open access to its tablet portfolio in Q2 2013.

Apkudo for Developers is a free service supplementing the Apkudo Approved program. Apkudo Approved helps mobile operators and device manufacturers create better Android devices by characterizing and analyzing their expected user experience, in part with aggregate data from pre-launch apps submitted through Apkudo for Developers.
