Finesse Solutions and Thermo Fisher Scientific Renew Bilateral Supply Agreement for Control Systems and Single-Use Bioreactors

SANTA CLARA, California, Jan. 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Finesse Solutions, Inc., a manufacturer of measurement and control solutions for life sciences process applications, announced the renewal of their bilateral supply agreement with Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. For the last 5 years and with over 200 collaborative projects connecting the market leading Thermo Scientific HyPerforma Single-Use Bioreactor with Finesse's TruFluor single-use sensors and TruBio automation systems, the relationship between both companies continues to remain strong and allows both companies to offer customers seamless support for single-use systems through faster installation, connectivity, service, and support.

The bilateral relationship allows Finesse to continue offering its highly configurable, turn-key G3-series cGMP systems to the market.  Based on the DeltaV® control platform from Emerson, Finesse controllers allows users to scale their processes seamlessly from 50L single use bioreactors for lab-scale and R&D applications into cGMP single-use process trains having volumes up to 2,000L.The agreement has enabled the market leading Thermo Scientific HyPerforma Single-Use Bioreactor TurnKey (S.U.B. TK) solution, which combines a next generation Thermo S.U.B. with Finesse's state-of-the-art G3mini controller having either a DeltaV of mC control platform. Now customers can choose either the Hyperforma S.U.B. TK or highly customized Finesse control systems with fully integrated S.U.B bioreactors.

"Thermo Fisher Scientific and Finesse have a long history of successful collaboration, not only through integrating S.U.B.s as one option of our open architecture approach, but also through development of the HyPerforma S.U.B. TK system," said Millie Ullah, senior product manager for single-use technology for Thermo Scientific cell culture and bioprocessing products. "The renewal of the supply agreement reinforces our partnership and provides our customers with assurance that we are jointly committed to supporting our customers through turnkey single use bioreactors with a choice of control platforms having either DeltaV or mC automation."

"Thermo Fisher Scientific's S.U.B.s have and continue to represent a significant opportunity for our G3-series controllers as well as our single-use TruFluor and TruTorr sensors," stated Barbara Paldus, CEO of Finesse.  "In single-use cGMP applications, our DeltaV-based control platform will enable efficient implementation of production capacity, whereas in research and process development for our Wintel-based TruBio mC control platform is expected to merge state-of-the-art control with a great user experience."

If zettabytes of data exist, why is less than 1% of the world’s data being analyzed today? Seasoned entrepreneur and startup CEO Radhika Subramanian believes that the inability to analyze and gain value from Big Data is that organizations are taking a services-centered approach. As the title of the session implies, Subramanian believes that the data needs to do the talking, not armies of analysts searching and querying databases. Her company has developed high-speed, advanced algorithms to autom...
