Ivee Sleek to Debut First Hands-Free Voice Activated Personal Home Assistant at CES 2013

CES 2013 Las Vegas attendees will be first to meet ivee sleek - a voice-activated and internet-connected assistant for the home

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- IN(D)2, an innovation and product development firm, today announced the debut of the first hands-free voice activated personal assistant, ivee Sleek, at the 2013 International CES show in Las Vegas. Interactive Voice, Inc, a pioneer in voice controlled electronics, hired IN(D)2 to design and help develop ivee Sleek.

Ivee Sleek is a Wi-Fi enabled voice interactive assistant which is activated by spoken command. Using natural language understanding, machine learning, and a server-based knowledge engine, ivee answers questions, obeys commands and can control other internet-connected devices and services.  Ivee's advanced voice trigger technology allows you to activate the device from a distance without touching it. In addition, light and temperature sensors detect ivee's ambient surroundings, making her smart and aware.

"I've always dreamed of talking to an artificial intelligence system that could control my home" said Jonathon Nostrant, CEO and founder of ivee. "We saw the beginnings of voice recognition and personal assistant technology on mobile phones, but they never provided the experience we were looking for." IN(D)2 worked closely with ivee's team from the beginning, designing and developing Sleek, defining the user experience and bringing ivee's products to life.

Ivee Sleek can be seen at CES from Jan. 8-11, 2013, at South Hall 2 Booth #25827.

An edge gateway is an essential piece of infrastructure for large scale cloud-based services. In his session at 17th Cloud Expo, Mikey Cohen, Manager, Edge Gateway at Netflix, detailed the purpose, benefits and use cases for an edge gateway to provide security, traffic management and cloud cross region resiliency. He discussed how a gateway can be used to enhance continuous deployment and help testing of new service versions and get service insights and more. Philosophical and architectural approaches to what belongs in a gateway vs what should be in services were also discussed. Real examples of how gateway services are used in front of nearly all of Netflix's consumer facing traffic showed how gateway infrastructure is used in real highly available, massive scale services.

In his session at 17th Cloud Expo, Jeff Miller, Product Management at Cavirin Systems, discussed how to assess these changes across your own cloud strategy, and how you can mitigate risks previously covered under the agreement.
