Latest Release of OpenText Managed File Transfer Helps Customers Reduce Information Exchange Risks

OpenText Managed File Transfer 2013 Helps Organizations Improve Security and Compliance, Decrease Costs and Increase Business Process Velocity

WATERLOO, ON, Nov. 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ - OpenText (NASDAQ: OTEX, TSX: OTC), a leading provider of Enterprise Information Management (EIM) software, today announced the immediate availability of OpenText Managed File Transfer (MFT) 2013, which allows organizations to manage their file transfer processes, quickly, easily and securely.

"This new release of OpenText MFT is a significant milestone towards delivering the best Information Exchange solutions to our customers," said Eugene Cherny, General Manager, OpenText Connectivity Solutions. "The new multi-server architecture offers unprecedented cost-saving, data security and user experience benefits for organizations looking to regain control of their file movements."

The multi-server architecture allows customers to deploy a network of OpenText MFT servers across geographically dispersed locations in order to optimize the routing of files between users inside and outside the firewall. This architecture offers significant benefits to organizations that are struggling to take control of their file movements, including:

  • Reduced infrastructure costs by selecting the optimum time and most cost-effective network segment for routing files.
  • Improved security and governance for data-in-motion by segregating users and restricting file movements to specific servers or network routes.
  • Increased performance and better user experience by intelligently moving files closer to recipients prior to being downloaded.

OpenText MFT also includes advanced data-at-rest encryption capabilities that facilitate regulatory compliance by encrypting the files that reside on the MFT servers in order to prevent the theft of intellectual property and mitigate the risk of data breaches. Data protection is further enhanced through the OpenText MFT Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2 validated cryptographic module, which provides government-grade security.

Dispatch folder, new functionality in this release, allows users to automate and accelerate recurring file transfer operations. Using a dispatch folder, users can drag and drop files to a pre-configured desktop location which will automatically send those files to other users or file systems while maintaining the benefits of a fully-audited and secured file transfer.

At pennies per virtual machine-hour, the economics of cloud computing are both compelling and daunting to replicate. Whether you are building your own cloud infrastructure, building a public cloud or choosing a cloud service, there are key strategy and technology decisions that make the difference between success and failure. You're getting pitched every day from your legacy enterprise software and hardware vendors about "cloud." They're doing an amazing job of convincing your CIO and CTO about what cloud is and how you should use it. The reality is they're defending their shrinking market share and keeping you on the legacy treadmill for as long as they can by selling you solutions that aren't "cloud." In her session at the 12th International Cloud Expo, Niki Acosta, Cloud Evangelista for Rackspace, will talk thro...
The rise of cloud computing has exposed hard drive-based storage as the new data center bottleneck. Combating this, data center managers have deployed SSDs to gain the performance needed to provide real-time access to data. However, due to budget constraints, many have turned to consumer-grade SSDs without understanding that they wear out quickly when processing enterprise workloads. In this session, Esther Spanjer will discuss recent endurance advancements in SSD technology that enable usage of...
