ADTRAN’s Network Virtualization Solution for Wireless Networks Recognized for Innovation with Triple Crown of Awards

ADTRAN®, Inc., (NASDAQ:ADTN), a leading provider of cloud connectivity, virtual mobility and enterprise communications solutions, today announced that its Bluesocket virtual Wireless LAN (vWLAN®) solution has been recognized by multiple industry awards for demonstrating innovation and a groundbreaking approach to providing end-to-end control of wireless and wireline networks. The solution was honored by TMC, winning an INTERNET TELEPHONY Excellence Award as well as a Communications Solutions Product of the Year Award. The American Business Awards also recognized vWLAN with a Gold Stevie® in the Best New Telecommunications Hardware Product/Service category. All three award programs aim to acknowledge ingenuity in product development and overall leadership in the telecommunications industry.

“ADTRAN’s Bluesocket vWLAN is the first and only solution on the market with hypervisor-based control and management, enabling enterprises and large campuses to truly realize unprecedented scalability and simplified operations across their facilities with building-to-building, wireless and wired connectivity,” said Mads Lillelund, general manager for ADTRAN’s Bluesocket Business Group. “The solution allows customers to continue utilizing their current network access points while also deploying ADTRAN’s Bluesocket access points. As a result, customers are able to protect previous investments but also offer a migration path from older access points.”

Traditionally, WLAN deployments tied scalability to single purpose devices, where the addition of more users and access meant enterprises had to purchase more and larger controllers. ADTRAN’s Bluesocket vWLAN solution utilizes network virtualization to scale and manage wireless networks through software based on a hypervisor, eliminating the need for hardware controllers. The solution enables enterprises to virtualize control and management of the network and support up to 1,500 access points and 48,000 users in multiple locations on a single software instance. This approach provides increased performance, efficiency, reliability, unsurpassed scalability and reduced CAPEX and OPEX for businesses looking to achieve advanced IP communications networks.

As an additional benefit, ADTRAN’s Unified User Access Control Software for vWLAN supports users from third party access points as well as wired ports, allowing enterprises to provide identical service delivery, flawless user-experience and dependable authentication regardless of a user’s access method. The software also simplifies administration by ensuring all users are given the same set of policies. Furthermore, when combined with ADTRAN’s LAN and Unified Communications portfolio, vWLAN is the industry’s most integrated, carrier-class, seamless wireless/wireline end-to-end voice, data, video and mobility solution with virtual control.

“We’re delighted to recognize so many innovative companies, new products, technical achievements and technology executives in ABA’s new product and tech awards categories,” said Michael Gallagher, president and founder of the Stevie Awards.

“The editors of INTERNET TELEPHONY were pleased to grant ADTRAN with an INTERNET TELEPHONY Excellence Award for its innovation in IP communications. vWLAN has demonstrated outstanding quality and delivered exceptional solutions for its customers,” said Erik Linask, Group Editorial Director of INTERNET TELEPHONY.
