PCMA, the Leading Organization for Meeting and Event Professionals, Selects ACTIVE Network to Power Its Global Event Portfolio

ACTIVE Network, Inc. (NYSE: ACTV), the leader in cloud-based Activity and Participant Management™ (APM), today announced that the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) has chosen ACTIVE as its exclusive event management technology partner to power all of PCMA’s global events — from annual conferences such as Convening Leaders to worldwide chapter events. Leveraging ACTIVE’s suite of solutions for business events, PCMA will be able to gain tremendous efficiencies in event management and deepen attendee engagement and satisfaction. Furthermore, by taking advantage of ACTIVE’s single sign-on (SSO) capabilities, PCMA aims to significantly improve the member experience while gaining valuable insights into its membership across worldwide events.

“Smart businesses consolidate all data from their meetings and events to better manage spend and offer attendees a more personalized experience. This is only possible when you integrate all of your data points and events through a single technology suite,” said Sheriff Karamat, COO of PCMA. “It is our belief that ACTIVE Network is the only event technology partner that can power everything from local meetings to highly complex, international events.”

“Our expanded partnership with PCMA is a testament to the quality and breadth of solutions that we offer,” said JR Sherman, SVP of Business Solutions at ACTIVE Network. “Together with PCMA, we are committed to leading our industry forward with a suite of technologies that will transform events from being a cost center to being a revenue driver for businesses everywhere.”

In addition to using ACTIVE Network’s Conference™ solution for large-scale events, PCMA is implementing RegOnline®, ACTIVE Network’s easy-to-use, attendee management solution to power its 200 plus chapter meetings across the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Prior to using RegOnline, PCMA chapter members had to remember multiple user-names and passwords and re-enter basic profile information every time they wanted to register for an event. With RegOnline’s SSO capability, PCMA members will have a seamless user experience, allowing them to create a single username, password and profile that can be used to register for any chapter event or meeting hosted by the association. PCMA can also streamline disparate member information into one place, resulting in more accurate metrics and ultimately improved engagement.

“Using RegOnline for our chapter meetings has made creating events easy. The step by step process is fluid and not once did I have to call customer service to figure out how to do anything,” said Michelle Holmberg, president of PCMA’s Northern California Chapter. “It’s a great, user-friendly tool and has saved me a lot of time planning my events.”

ACTIVE Network is powering the next generation of smart events through its Business Solutions technology suite which provides intelligent data & insights to accelerate revenue growth, deepen attendee engagement and gain efficiency. Customers of all sizes — including small and medium-sized businesses, enterprise corporations, associations, tradeshows and expos — benefit from a single technology partner for all of their event management needs. The Business Solutions technology suite includes Conference™ for large flagship conferences, RegOnline® for attendee management solutions, StarCite® SMM for strategic meetings management and event expense management, and the StarCite Supplier Marketplace to connect events with suppliers. With more than 30 Kubernetes solutions in the marketplace, it's tempting to think Kubernetes and the vendor ecosystem has solved the problem of operationalizing containers at scale or of automatically managing the elasticity of the underlying infrastructure that these solutions need to be truly scalable. Far from it. There are at least six major pain points that companies experience when they try to deploy and run Kubernetes in their complex environments. In this presentation, the speaker will detail these pain points and explain how cloud can address them.
The deluge of IoT sensor data collected from connected devices and the powerful AI required to make that data actionable are giving rise to a hybrid ecosystem in which cloud, on-prem and edge processes become interweaved. Attendees will learn how emerging composable infrastructure solutions deliver the adaptive architecture needed to manage this new data reality. Machine learning algorithms can better anticipate data storms and automate resources to support surges, including fully scalable GPU-centric compute for the most data-intensive applications. Hyperconverged systems already in place can be revitalized with vendor-agnostic, PCIe-deployed, disaggregated approach to composable, maximizing the value of previous investments.
When building large, cloud-based applications that operate at a high scale, it's important to maintain a high availability and resilience to failures. In order to do that, you must be tolerant of failures, even in light of failures in other areas of your application. "Fly two mistakes high" is an old adage in the radio control airplane hobby. It means, fly high enough so that if you make a mistake, you can continue flying with room to still make mistakes. In his session at 18th Cloud Expo, Lee Atchison, Principal Cloud Architect and Advocate at New Relic, discussed how this same philosophy can be applied to highly scaled applications, and can dramatically increase your resilience to failure.
Machine learning has taken residence at our cities' cores and now we can finally have "smart cities." Cities are a collection of buildings made to provide the structure and safety necessary for people to function, create and survive. Buildings are a pool of ever-changing performance data from large automated systems such as heating and cooling to the people that live and work within them. Through machine learning, buildings can optimize performance, reduce costs, and improve occupant comfort by sharing information within the building and with outside city infrastructure via real time shared cloud capabilities.
