Hooked Launches New Personalized Predictive System for Mobile App Choices and Ratings

By Providing Personalized Ratings for Each User, Hooked Is Now the Personal Shopper for Gaming Apps

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/12/12 -- Hooked Media Group today debuted its new predictive system to its Hooked app, a game discovery engine for the Google Play Marketplace. Now when Hooked users browse for new content, the app will provide game recommendations with a prediction of whether the user will like a game, as compared to game ratings on Google Play. With this new system, Hooked now is the much needed personal shopper for gaming apps and helping to solve the problem of app discovery.

Hooked's mission is to take the guess work out of search and discovery for users. Its recommendation system employs several machine-learning algorithms, which take into account several different factors. Some of these include the user's behavior patterns as well as analysis of the games they have already installed. This allows Hooked's recommendation system to predict which games users will like and ultimately predict a rating specifically for them. Overtime the system's recommendations improve, as users continue to purchase and rate apps these actions are picked up by the system and factored into future recommendations.

In addition, Hooked is also introducing daily fun facts about each user. Hooked's advanced system will utilize a variety of data to curate tailored facts about the user every day. With these fun facts, players receive their statistics in comparison to other players. This could include a player's percentage of time playing one game versus another user, or how they rank compared to their friends. Fun facts also incorporate geo-location, meaning a player could find out if they played more games than anyone else in their city. Hooked is now adding a personal touch to app discovery and is one step closer to fully personalizing the gaming experience for consumers.

"Our recommendation system predicts whether the user is going to like a particular gaming app or not," said Hooked CEO, Prita Uppal. "No other app recommendation service in the market can predict which games users will install and what their rating will be. In order for search and discovery to improve, some thought and personalization needs to go into the recommendation process, that's exactly what we are doing at Hooked with these new features."
