New flagship models offer advanced paper handling and finishing capabilities enabling businesses of all sizes to produce professional-quality print and copy jobs in-house

MAHWAH, N.J., Sept. 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America (SIICA), a division of Sharp Electronics Corporation, today announced three new models that have been added to the groundbreaking line of multifunction document systems for the high-volume markets.

The new MX-M904, MX-M1054 and MX-M1204 monochrome document systems are available in three engine speeds: 90 pages-per-minute (ppm), 105ppm and 120ppm, and offer advanced capabilities, such as air-feed paper handling for higher reliability and enhanced media support, and modular finishing options that offer professional folding and booklet making. To easily manage all these features, these new models utilize Sharp's innovative 10.1-inch (diagonal) high-resolution touch screen user interface, that offers scan preview, real time editing and customization.

The flexible modular design allows a variety of paper handling and finishing configurations ranging from basic high-volume printing and copying to advanced folding and booklet making. The available triple air-feed paper handling option provides excellent reliability and is virtually maintenance free.  The MX-M904, MX-M1054 and MX-M1204 models have paper capacity for up to 13,500-sheets with options and boast Standard PCL® 6 and true Adobe® PostScript® 3™ printing systems.  The intuitive job management function enables users to reprint, edit and combine jobs directly from the machine itself.

"These new models have been designed on Sharp's award-winning Hercules platform, which offers the performance and reliability our customers expect," said George Grafanakis, Senior Manager, Product Planning and Marketing, Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America. "Sharp's new air-feed paper handling system combined with versatile finishing options make these new workhorses suitable for all types of businesses, large or small."

The MX-M904, MX-M1054 and MX-M1204 are built on the latest Sharp OSA® development platform, making network integration with external applications and cloud services easy and secure.  The built in security platform offers 256-bit data encryption and up to 7-times data overwrite protection to safeguard sensitive business or customer information. Additionally, a convenient End-of-Lease feature can erase all personal data, address books and job data at trade-in time.

Enterprises are striving to become digital businesses for differentiated innovation and customer-centricity. Traditionally, they focused on digitizing processes and paper workflow. To be a disruptor and compete against new players, they need to gain insight into business data and innovate at scale. Cloud and cognitive technologies can help them leverage hidden data in SAP/ERP systems to fuel their businesses to accelerate digital transformation success.
When building large, cloud-based applications that operate at a high scale, it's important to maintain a high availability and resilience to failures. In order to do that, you must be tolerant of failures, even in light of failures in other areas of your application. "Fly two mistakes high" is an old adage in the radio control airplane hobby. It means, fly high enough so that if you make a mistake, you can continue flying with room to still make mistakes. In his session at 18th Cloud Expo, Lee Atchison, Principal Cloud Architect and Advocate at New Relic, discussed how this same philosophy can be applied to highly scaled applications, and can dramatically increase your resilience to failure.
Machine learning provides predictive models which a business can apply in countless ways to better understand its customers and operations. Since machine learning was first developed with flat, tabular data in mind, it is still not widely understood: when does it make sense to use graph databases and machine learning in combination? This talk tackles the question from two ends: classifying predictive analytics methods and assessing graph database attributes. It also examines the ongoing lifecycle for machine learning in production. From this analysis it builds a framework for seeing where machine learning on a graph can be advantageous.'
