iPass Unveils Open Mobile Express

Delivers Enterprise Departments, and Small and Medium Businesses With Basic and Cost-Effective Access to the World's Largest Commercial Wi-Fi Network and Trusted Connectivity Platform

REDWOOD SHORES, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 03/28/12 -- iPass Inc., (NASDAQ: IPAS) the global Wi-Fi services and enterprise mobility leader, today announced iPass® Open Mobile Express™, a lightweight version of iPass Open Mobile that gives enterprises quick, easy and cost-effective access to more than 700,000 Wi-Fi venues in 117 countries and territories globally. iPass Open Mobile Express offers individual departments and enterprises of all sizes seamless connectivity and basic reporting services for smartphones, tablets and laptops.

Providing a consistent user experience across all devices while avoiding costly roaming charges and expensive Wi-Fi day passes, Open Mobile Express is fast and simple to manage and deploy, and costs can be known and controlled. Customers can also easily upgrade to the full version of Open Mobile as their needs evolve, adding premium security, connection management and reporting options. Open Mobile Express provides mobile employees who are constantly on the go with the ability to:

  • Auto-detect available iPass Wi-Fi connections,
  • Access the iPass Mobile Network, the world's largest commercial Wi-Fi network, and
  • Receive a single bill for all users with support for cost-center department billing.

"Affordable connectivity usually ends when people cross international borders, and 3G networks are congested and slow. While 4G coverage is fast and spreading, 4G users also generate 28 times more data traffic than 3G and that is going to have a dramatic impact on enterprise network costs as mobile workers continue to be data hungry," said Barbara Nelson, chief technology officer at iPass. "The world is on Wi-Fi and our customers need to be globally mobile -- iPass Open Mobile Express gives our customers an easy and cost-effective way to access our rapidly expanding global Wi-Fi network."

Availability
iPass Open Mobile Express is available today from iPass and its global partner network.
