In the spirit of Web 2.0, Malks and Alur invited the advance participation in this panel of anyone interested by asking any question that is relevant to the topic of the panel.
"That is," they explained, "anything to do with any combination of Java, Ajax, Web 2.0 stuff, and SOA."
Anyone was able submit questions by visiting here, and then the questions themselves could be ranked. Here are the leading ones so far, in descending order of popularity:- What is the relationship of AJAX and SOA?
- Does AJAX disrupt or complement existing presentation frameworks (Struts, Spring, JSF)?
- Should I wait until there are Ajax standards in place to adopt it in our organization?
- Why should programmers care about this "Web 2.0" / "mashup" mumbo jumbo?
- What are some actual examples of web services providing real business value as part of a SOA?
- How is Web 2.0 and AJAX relevant to the Enterprise ? What opportunities and challenges do they present?
- I hear a lot of a hay about cross-browser support with a presentation technology like AJAX. Why should I care, and what steps are vendors taking to address this?
- What is the Open AJAX consortium, and what does it mean for the developer and the IT executive?
- What can we expect in the upcoming months (or years) from the different AJAX implementations? For instance ATLAS vs OpenAJAX...
- What has JSON to do with AJAX?
- Provided the acceptation of SOA and the decoupling between back and front, could alternative languages (such as Ruby) compete for the front-end layer?
- Can we expect AJAX patterns to become as adaptable as Middle and Back Tiers patterns?
- Is there an official initiative to develop AJAX with the Spring Framework (something similar to 'Spring Rich Client')?
- Is it technically feasible to implement and use an AJAX based Operating System?
- What do you think will make the difference between the all the AJAX implementations?

These are great questions, we should keep adding to them right up until the session begins and maybe even afterwards...will SYS-CON open up a wiki on this maybe? |
