TARRYTOWN, N.Y., March 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Open-Xchange Inc. today has announced that it has added more than 100 mobile phones and other devices -- including the popular Treo family -- and will extend its offer of supplying the Open-Xchange SyncML OXtender free of charge through January 2007. Now, users of the popular open source collaboration server can seamlessly connect and interface with well over 300 SyncML enabled mobile devices.
Open-Xchange Server 5 provides organizations Smart Collaboration(TM) by supporting key collaborative functions like email, calendaring, contacts and task management -- fully integrated with advanced groupware features such as document sharing, project tracking, user forums, and a knowledge base. Open-Xchange Server 5 works with 'rich clients' such as Microsoft Outlook as well as most browsers and mobile devices.
"Organizations are trying to deal with the new workplace requirements that staff members must be able to collaborate from anywhere, from any network enabled device and all in real time," said Dan Kusnetzky, executive vice president, Marketing Strategy for Open-Xchange. "Until now synchronization of data has been restricted to certain devices and applications. Moreover, SyncML OXtender supports in combination with a SyncML client -- such as Chattermail (http://www.chatteremail.com/), Synchronia (http://www.synchronia.com/) or Synthesis (http://www.synthesis.ch/) -- SyncML-enabled mobile phones from leading manufacturers such as:
